Greg Olsen to play as long as Tony Gonzalez?

I was thinking about this after seeing so many times that he saved this team with key 3rd downs and touchdowns, we had a three-year extension contract with him and he's 30 years old. It naturally leads me to think how many years he can play for us. 

I checked the career of Tony Gonzalez, he has played in this league for 17 years after entering NFL at the age of 21. Olsen entered the NFL when he was 22, if he can also play for about 15 years, that would be 6 more years with us, isn't it a great thing for us Panther fans?

I could see him being great for another couple years, and still be a solid contributor for another couple so that's 4 years. Much of anything beyond that, not sure, once players start getting to that mid 30s range hmm

I think he may have the ability but not the will to play as long.   Looks to be really big into family, not saying Tony G wasn't but to me looks like he is more family than anything.

Greg will play as long as we're contending and his body is able. Say we go all the way this year, he may just play another year or possibly two then hang it up. Say we get close but don't quite hit it, same general scenario. If we somehow flounder out late in the year (no reason to think we will, but just a scenario), then who knows?

As pointed out, he's a family man. He won't risk his health nor his family's happiness to play longer than he should.

Olsen has seemed to indicate this most recent extension is his "last contract".

Yeah, he could change his mind. I'm not sold that he will.

We'll see.

He will play out this contract and if still at a high level probably go year to year

Tony G and Greg have a different playing style. But I don't see Greg as the type to hang on when he's clearly done.
