Cam Newton, the next Steve Young? But better?

yeah, I told him that.  Elway had accuracy issues as well.

I think it's more a style comparison: I.e., big, burly, big armed Drop Back QB's, who could also escape the pocket and run for positive yards.

I actually thought Elway was overrated his first few years (and sometimes terrible). Where Cam's actually been underrated, and performed well from the start (with his ups and downs of course, like any other young QB).

Wilson is one significant leg injury away from NOT being a franchise QB anymore . His game is all about his legs like RG3. He better stay healthy.

Agreed.

Wilson's more similar to RG3 than most pedestrian fans realize.

Because his teams won a Superbowl/been to it twice, the media glosses this over (remember, Kaepernick made it to a Superbowl as well; so big deal). But Wilson just has to run too much just to get a throw off (albeit sideways many times).

Yes, Wilson doesn't appear to take the hits RG3 did. But RG3, though not an accomplished pocket passer, could at least see over the defense better. Wilson, appears to struggle seeing straight up the field in a muddy pocket, thus always has to perform his Houdini act, with legs churning.

However, when you consistently have to do that (run just to throw), you're eventually going to hurt your team, or yourself IMO. Of course, he could throw better with a more decent OL, and the better play calling that comes with. But that's why he's not a $20 mil QB IMO.

FWIW: I hope, he just keeps throwing picks, getting sacked and losing doing this. Wouldn't want to see anyone get injured.

I compared him to Elway the other day to one of my friends actually.  He said wayyyyy to early for that.

People always seem to have trouble understanding style comparisons. They assume it means you're also comparing their level of success.

Jimmy Clausen is the same style of quarterback as Philip Rivers. This is a true statement. It says nothing about their relative skill levels or success in the NFL, but people who hear that will assume it does and freak out.
