Good write-up on our multi-faceted run attack

Please provide evidence that those third and long bombs are Cam's decisions. According to those close to the organization, it isn't up to Cam to audible out or juggle options at the LOS. Uhhhh, did you forget about last season where Shula attempted numerous screens to Bersin? Of course you did.

Stop.

Damn dude, it's football 101. They're not sending one receiver out for a bomb and everybody else stays in to block. There are always  different routes and run/pass options for Cam. Just about the only exception is the quick slant. Also, Cam audibles all the time. What games are you watching?

Fantastic article. Every Panthers fan should read that. Gives specific examples to how we run the most complex running game in the NFL.

Reading articles like that remind me that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about when it comes to football. I'm a fan. I want to understand more but in the end I'm mostly watching the ball.

So I'll stick to my attempts at comedy and memes.

the bersin bubble screens and Jericho option plays are overblown methinks. Those were like 3 plays in 3 years. Obviously having bersin as cams 1st option in Seattle was epically dumb but the Shula hate is so massively overblown that it's become impossible to have an actual football discussion with some without people mentioning those three plays in three years. I was a Shula defender in 2013 because the ying and yang worked because of our formidable front seven. Sustain drives keep the defense fresh because they were nasty.

Shulas problem has been he can't really mask around deficiencies in the offense. 2014 you would see long developing plays when the o line couldn't hold up. He couldn't adapt to that but we obviously didn't have much speed minus Philly to change our gameplan and cam wasn't healthy to maximize his talents. And I think it's ignorant to look at teams in a vacuum.

But notice I said "has been." When Shula has been given a competent, smart o-line he can work with and a healthy Cam he's making it work with marginal receivers. And now we are seeing expert breakdowns proving that the Shula playbook is ACTUALLY complex.

There is something to be said about the growth of a team. The growth of play calling, the growth of a qb under a system, the growth of talent with young players, and the growth of a cohesive offensive line. I think we are seeing the fruits of all that hard work the past couple of years while we shed contracts and built the bottom of our roster up and these players staying in this one system.

All of these things, as well as Shula calling some pretty great games have led to our 5-0 start. And we are still growing as a football team.

I'm just gonna echo Igo here and say:

"Cam is doing some wonderful things."

You guys can support Shula... until he pulls another 3rd & inches hail mary or a bubble screen to Bersin or a dump off on 4th & 15 or etc etc etc.

Cam is great and the reason we're running this kind of offense.  I mean if Derek Anderson were our full time starter I doubt this would be our offense.  And that's no indictment on Anderson because he does okay with this offense when he's in there, but this offense is obviously tailored to Cam's strengths.  And like it or not, Shula is the one that has tailored this offense to Cam's strengths.

The last part of your post is hyperbolic drivel.

I have not said Shula is the worst OC because of his play designs .... Its because of his timing of certain playcalls and then the head scratching playcall.

But as I said in an earlier post ... I am eatting crow, Shula has really done a great job on timing with his playcalls, and I have yet to say this year in a game ..... "What the hell is Shula doing"

I have, he still does some dumb play calling but we have also seen Cam make better decisions and have a better line.  I'm still confused as to why they don't activate a true FB when we run so much.  Tolbert is 90% running back and 10% Fullback and it's time to except that.

eh, dont waste your time. you are trying to explain something a little too difficult to someone who thought last year, that the tie with Cincy was actually worse than a loss. just let these people be

Football 101? How many more times do you have to see those WR sets for you to realize that they are no 'alternatives' for Cam. That's as asinine as saying that Cam has options at the goal line. 9.5 out of 10 times, Cam is gonna run that in for a score. Good lawd.

Audibles all the time????????? Cam had four straight drives last Sunday without one. Are you blind, or are you a Shula nuthugger?

You're right, Shula is forcing Cam to throw bombs on 3rd/4th and short. There are no RB's or short routes to throw to. What was I thinking? God your'e hard headed.
