Ron Rivera or John Fox?

Mr. Scot

I think Ron has a higher ceiling going forward than Foxy's career.  I think he is a better D mind overall.

But if you are just judging them as pure HC's Foxy's resume gives him an edge in the debate.  Ron's resume is 1 winning season and 1 playoff win in 4 years.  Fox's resume and success was just better.

Fox did not have the benefit of a good GM, so it is hard to say.  I do like how open Rivera is with the fans and media.  Fox speak got on my nerves.

early on....Fox's GM was awesome for him.   If you look 4 years in.  Hurney was only a mess late in his tenure here.

There was a window when many argued that was the best coach/GM combo in the NFL.  The end makes people forget the early part of that era.

First 4 seasons:

Fox - 36-28 (.562) 5-2 in playoffs. 2 appearances. 1 division title

RR- 32-31-1 (.508) 1-2 in playoffs. 2 appearances. 2 division titles

Overall as Panthers coach:

Fox 73-71 (.507)  5-3 in playoffs. 3 appearance. 2 division titles. (1 winning season in his last 5 here)

RR- 37-31-1 (.543) 1-2 in playoffs. 2 appearances. 2 division titles

Ron's the better coach. That will become more evident with each season

Loved coach Fox, but he never put two seasons together. Always up and down with him. It took a couple of seasons for coach Rivera, but it looks like he's going to string three playoff seasons together, and maybe more. I just want to finally get over the hump of not having two winning seasons in a row. I used to laugh at the Falcons until they did it in their 39th season (might be off a year or two). Karma's a bitch.

Also - I have a lot of respect for coach Capers. He flamed out too fast, and what was our reward? A freaking Siefert sandwich that set us back years.
