The eagles have taken DMurray, a great up the field runner, and turned him into a scat back

In the two or three games I've seen of the eagles, whether it's running the ball or passing it to him, I've noticed that all of them involve murray running side to side.  This flies in the face of the best thing that he did in dallas, which was hit the line and get to the secondary in a hurry.

Is it fair to say that the best RB in the league last year has been relegated to what resembles a third-down back's role?

Check out this article I just found about how they finally got murray going last week.  To no surprise, the plays that were most successful were the ones that get him to the line quicker and take advantage of his ability to find the quickest way through.  On the contrary, though, it seems like they've only lucked into the realization, because they're still running sweeps to him, a concept that nullifies his greatest strengths.

Yes - in all honestly McCoy was a better back for what they do so I am not sure where the talk of Murray being a better fit came from when they got rid of Shady and acquired Murray. They have started to make adjustments to the play calling to fix this but it's going to take some time if it happens at all. Murray is not used to running out of the shotgun because he has pretty much always run from under center. I have heard it takes at least a half season for a RB to get used to a change like that. His slow start is no surprise as is the slow start to the offense as a whole. Despite what many people think, Chip's offense is based around the run and if you can't run, nothing else works.

Ryan Matthews has looked far more comfortable than Murray when he gets the ball.

I was telling a friend of mine this exact thing when they released McCoy and signed Murray.  I love Murray, but he is not a good fit for Chip Kelly's offense.

i thought one of the main reasons kelly got rid of mccoy was that kelly wanted a north-south runner in his system, not an east-west guy like Shady.

Does this mean that Star and KK should eat Sunday night?

i hope so. still watching eagles all-22 but man it's hard to pin anything specific down that they're doing wrong. they have weaknesses but nothing glaring... more inconsistency than anything.

their center is is playing horrible too actually so it's really the whole interior
