Glad Gettleman is the GM instead of posters like you who dont have a clue. If Shula got a head coaching job dont be surprised if they hire from within or someone who runs a very similar system to what we have.  Cam is doing what he is doing because of his familiarity with the scheme.  It isnt always how great the scheme is in and of itself but how well the quarterback understands the scheme and makes it work. Otherwise we end up with another Alex Smith issue where the quarterback has to learn multiple systems over a short period of time.

Are you really so stupid as to not know that Cam is running Shula's system not his own.  Shula works every week with Cam on film for hours so when Cam gets into a game situation he knows what defenses he is going to face and how to audible to a play that works with different looks.   Only a fool thinks that this is due to Cam and his knowledge alone without realizing that the coaching staff does all the work on offdays and countless nights so that Cam can make those plays come game day.  He runs the plays but Shula is the one who taught what to do and how to do it.  The fact he lets Cam audible is just another reason that Shula was a good choice.  I can promise Chud never let Cam run his own plays and rumor has it that Chud didnt think Cam was too bright or would ever be a great passer which is why he went full retard and ran the read option play constantly his sophomore year.  That way he had to key off of one of two players and not the whole defense.

Every quarterback for the most part has won at every level before coming into the NFL or they wouldnt have been drafted. So obviously then every quarterback who comes into the NFl will be successful regardless of their OC or system, right?  Stupid logic.

Gettleman could have gotten rid of Rivera and anyone else he wanted.  But he was smart enough to see Rivera's potential and Rivera saw Shula's.

Then again why am I debating this with someone who isnt open to a discussion.  Just wastes my time and brings me down to your level.   I will save it for folks who want to discuss things objectively not who have had their mind made up for a year or longer and isnt open to changing their opinion.

I think a lot of people hard on Shula don't realize how this team is built both from a salary cap perspective and a game play perspective.  We aren't built offensively to put up a ton of points, even though ironically enough we're putting up a lot of points.  Richardson's vision for this team hasn't changed since the franchise was started.  Clock eating, grinding, sometimes big play offense.  Physical, bend but don't break defense.  Throughout the Panthers existence this has pretty much been the norm for us, so to see people bitching so fervently, while we're 5-0 mind you, just baffles me and makes me wonder just how long they have been watching this team.

i've realized for a year or two this argument is similar to politics. people have heard the same rhetoric for so long it's embedded in their heads and their is no convincing, no matter how logical you can put it. just let them be the way they are.

shula definitely doesnt deserve all the hate he gets, but he is no stranger to questionable playcalling. his tendency to abandon the run at times is baffling, as are some of his 3rd and long (screen pass to a possession receiver?) and 4th and short calls (QB bootleg?)

Who said anything about changing offensive systems? We just need someone that calls better that uses the same scheme we use. Our system is fine. It's the play calling of the system that needs help.
