Per Aaron Wilson, the Panthers are working out former Tarheels QB Bryn Renner.

They're also said to be working out Douglas McNeill, a former Seahawks wide receiver.

Renner should still be practice squad eligible.  Probably a sign that the staff sees Webb as a utility player first and an emergency QB second.  Might be looking for a practice squad QB to bump up to the roster in case the unmentionable happens to Cam or even to Anderson.

He was previously with the Ravens in some capacity, but yeah I'm sure he's still PS eligible.

I'm pretty sure that plenty of Panthers fans are interested in this news... I am always interested to find out who we work out.

 

Is there any reason to think that Gettleman is thinking about trading Anderson or Webb? A lot of teams are hurting at quarterback, but the Panthers would probably ask for a lot in return for us to trade either of those guys. Not trying to be that guy that talks about trades... but it is strange for us to work out a QB.

Renner is a coach's son and a high character guy.  I thought athletically he was meh, but he's gotten looks from multiple NFL teams.
