We are wearing black all three weeks. I'd say there's a decent chance we get an all black combo at some point during that stretch.

I believe, though I'm not 100% on it, that it has been shown that a properly fitting helmet lessens the risk of a concussion more so than a helmet that does not fit properly. Basically if it doesn't fit snugly then that is an extra collision your head can make when hit violently.

That's fair, but the risk is minimal and it's not hard to fit a football helmet. What happens if someone decides to cut their dreadlocks/long hair in-season?  Are they banned from doing that since they would require a helmet re-fit?

They aren't. The same as when Luke was out and Klein had to switch to a radio helmet or if a helmet gets cracked and a player needs a new one. The idea is that one or two switches is easy but to do it on a mass scale means it is more likely for a player to get a helmet that isn't properly fitted. Like say if Johnny P-Squad gets called up the day before a game and in the rush to get him an alternate helmet they don't have one that fits perfectly since the stock on hand of alternate helmets is lower so they give him one that's close enough. If he goes out and suffers a major concussion then the team or NFL is potentially liable for putting him out there without a properly fitted helmet since it goes against the advice of all doctors. That's a situation they want to avoid and although it would be super rare it is best to eliminate the possibility entirely if you're the NFL even if it means there can be no alternate helmets.
