Panthers revenge tour 2k15

It looks like it's gonna be a special season. We're 5-0, fresh off a win against the Seahawks, a team that I'm not very fond of personally. Beating them last night gave me the same satisfaction I got beating Shao Kahn as Raiden in the final fight in MK9, because fug you and fug your green spear you x ray move blocking POS. However, our work is far, far from over. For far too long, too many of the "mainstream" teams have kicked the Panthers around like a BCS top 5 ranked team does whenever they play a lesser football program. I'm not listing divisional teams, because we should already be motivated to beat them since those are our most important games. So let's look at the remaining schedge, shall we?

next week: vs Eagles

well for starters, we got destroyed by them last year during the darkest stretch of our season. And if you look throughout history, they've had our number in a decent amount of high profile games between us. One of the ones that stands out the most is the Monday Night game in 2006, a game that was punctuated with Keyshawn Johnson throwing his helmet like 100 feet across the field after a Delhomme interception late in the 4th.

week 8: vs Colts

what's our angle here exactly? I'm not sure. I mean there is the fact that Andrew Luck gets more praise than Cam even though his record as a starter this year is 1-3 (Cam is 5-0), he's been turnover prone and doesn't even look as good as Cam does right now with much better weapons, and he has never beaten the Patriots (Cam has). So embarrassing him on a prime time stage and leaving these analysts speechless as they try to put their little pro-Luck spin on everything would be fun as a fan to watch. I mean who here wouldn't enjoy the sight of Trent Dilfer sweating like Louie Anderson in a Turkish bath?

week 9: vs Packers

They've had our number for a while. Okay they seem to have a lot of people's numbers, they're a good team, but because of that I do think that they don't take the Panthers seriously enough. The Packers have a lot of history and a lot of rings compared to 85% of teams. For god's sake the trophy they give out at the end of the season is named after a Packers coach. The Panthers may never win as many rings as the Packers. I mean who knows how long the NFL will last and look at how long it's taken for teams like the Lions to accomplish that feat, and they've been around forever. However, there's no time like the present to launch them off their throne and make our claim to supremacy in the kingdom that is the NFC.

week 10: at Titans

Ok they may not be mainstream? But honestly I don't think the Panthers have beaten this franchise since they were called the Oilers. We only play them once every leap year, so I guess that's not too pathetic (the next one is, though), but still, we're talking a timetable that spans three different decades. What the hell. Beat this fuging team already.

week 12: at Cowboys

So, um, we haven't beaten Dallas in the regular season since 1997. How does this franchise let this happen? Why do we have a number of teams that we go years and years without getting even a single victory against? I mean some of these teams make our annual incompetency against Seattle in recent years (until yesterday) look like a hiccup. Anyway, there's a lot of reasons to hate Dallas besides the usual go to laments. Number one, Greg Hardy, who just had to be a horse's ass off the field in Carolina even though he was and is a really good player, is going to be playing for them, and got an official suspension that lasted a fraction of what his commissioner imposed vacation ended up being last year. Also, I fuging can't stand how much success they've had against the Panthers. We basically opened the doors for Tony Romo on a national stage and let him superman the poo out of us in 2006 in prime time. Half their roster is full of fourth string former Panthers that never amounted to poo here. I wouldn't be surprised if they signed Sione Fua off the street just to suit him up for the Thanksgiving game for good measure.

week 15: at Giants

Okay, so we've had our fair share of success against them (23-0; the best game of Jonathan Stewart's career; 38-0) but they have also had their fair share of success against us. They ended the Matt Moore era as soon as it began (maybe that wasn't such a bad thing as I never thought of Matt Moore as more than a backup, and holy poo if there wasn't a massive void at QB we probably wouldn't have taken Cam). They beat the Panthers in a high profile flex game toward the end of 2008 that decided the no. 1 seed. And who could forget that Thursday night performance in 2012, where Panther fans were hyped for a breakout day, and they promptly got poo on by the likes of Ramses Barden. Maybe this is the only true intradivisional rivalry in the entire list. Nevertheless, if current trends continue for the season, then the Panthers will be one of the top teams of the NFC and the Giants will be a middling franchise struggling to make the playoffs. Why give them that rub that they would need to build momentum into the postseason at our expense?

I'm not worrying about the rest of the schedule. I'm about next week. The iggles, one of the most overrated teams, with one of the most fowl fan bases ever are what are taking my attention right now. I'm savoring the win because I probably 3 mini heart attacks yesterday. Once I am done savoring, It's fug the eagles time.

could also call this the respect tour. each game should be increasing the amount that we get because each game the media will be coming up with a whole host of reasons why we should lose and one by one those reasons will be disappearing....that is as long as we keep proving what we have been so far this season.

revenge tour is more fitting, though. we have had so many monkeys crawling around on our back, many of them put there by teams on our schedule, and it will be nice to start seeing those monkeys die.

  • 3 weeks later...

Dear Diary,

fug yeah. These last three games got pretty harrowing at different levels, but the Panthers made a huge bid for HFA throughout the playoffs the past month. It's really hard to beat the Packers and Seahawks on their own turf so I think this is essential for January. There is still so much work to do for the Panthers, but in the upcoming weeks, it's Titans/Redskins/Cowboys. These are all imperfect teams, but the Panthers need to tighten up in certain areas of the game in order to go into December unscathed. Dallas especially is a threat. Can't let Romo have another 2006 game in Thanksgiving, and you can't let Mariota and Cousins get comfortable in the fourth quarter like what's been happening recently. Although I have to say, I feel a little bit better about last Monday's game against the Colts since they slayed a dragon in Denver today. The Colts are dangerous when they're firing on all cylinders, but still, Andrew Luck 3 interceptions trollolololololololol.

    • Yup. I'm exactly as dedicated to this team as they are to putting a quality product on the field. Life is too short to spend getting upset about garbage.  I'm a fan. I'll (probably) always be a fan. But because I am not submitting myself to weekly torture doesn't mean my fandom is less pure than anyone else's.
    • It a message board so I can see the difference in what we are talking about. Quote by 45cat: "Yes, but it's only in these circumstances where he thrives, that's the problem  He can't be a true franchise QB and wait until the game is out of reach when the defense goes into prevent defense to finally flip on his baller switch." The circumstances where he thrives being only times when the game is out of reach and garbage time. That is the lie. It was 45cat who defined his play in garbage time as "turning on his baller switch".  I don't think I've even given the illusion that Bryce "can" be a franchise QB if he only "flips on his baller switch" during garbage time.  I don't think anyone has ever said that.  The whole point of what he is saying is that you can't give Bryce credit for garbage time.  I agree. I just happen to think it's hyperbole to say that is the only time he's played well.  There are more than 2 choices of "He sucks, cut him.  Worst QB ever" and "Franchise QB".  I've consistently said over and over that despite his bad play, he has only shown a ton of improvement overall in the last 10 games from last year.  The difference from game 1 last year to game 18 was something very few fans even thought possible. People saying he was too small and would never hold up in the NFL.  Dude can take a shot.  People saying he doesn't have the ability to throw down the field.  That great pass in game 1 from this year that Nola should have caught in the endzone was 43 yards in the air.  He can make all the throws. They said he can't throw when pressured.  Was one of the top QB's under pressure over the 2nd half of last season.   They said he doesn't throw deep.  Had one of the highest deep pass attempts in the league over the 2nd half of the season. They said, Oh, well, he can but he's not good at it.  Of those deep passes he was one of the most accurate despite a high drop rate by his receivers. People keep saying it's been 3 years.  That's enough time to see he sucks.  In reality it's been 2 years and 2 games.  There is no way I'll ever believe his rookie year didn't set him back.  No matter what was said it was a horrible situation on every level.  We are trying to come out of and build from that Frank Reich year which I hope was the bottom of the barrel.  I've never seen a worse situation for a rookie QB, maybe for any QB.  I don't think it's that much of a stretch after how bad that year was for any players development to set it aside and say that year doesn't paint an accurate picture.     I'm not even arguing for Bryce in so much as I'm arguing to have more patience and quit with the hyperbole and over the top statement or outright lies.  It's only because a handful of the same people have hated Bryce since he was drafted and have rarely given him credit for what he has done and can do. It's the lack of an accurate representation of Bryce and our situation and the development of players. 2021 - It was Derrick Brown's 2nd year, week 11.  He was benched.  Calls to trade him.  He sucks.  The Panthers are cursed.  Fast forward a few years and he has developed into one of the best players on the team and a Captain.   I don't know if Bryce will spiral and completely bust or if it's just a rocky road to stardom like so many players before him.  We have very little to lose and everything to gain by staying the course right now.
    • Sure let’s do better. I want a bad ass defensive guy. Vrabel would have made me happy.  Finesse teams do offense. And we are damned sure trying to do finesse. Can’t even do that right, we have nothing going.
