Question, Fantasy Gurus. Wells for Cribbs

top dawg

Recommended Posts

I am really wanting another RB who might break out. I have Ryan Grant, Reggie Bush, Maroney, Mendenhall, Hightower, James Davis and LeSean McCoy (who I may drop and pick up Chaz Scilens).

I was offered Beanie Wells and Michael Vick (a non factor) for Joshua Cribbs and Mendenhall.

My question is whether you think that Wells is worth letting go of Cribbs, even though Cribbs us a return man in a league where returns count. To give you a little perspective, in my league, Cribbs is projected to do about 23 points this week, and Andre Johnson, 19. Wells only 8 so far. I am thinking about doing it despite the points, because I think that I'll be able to fairly quickly get production out of Beanie in my Wideout/RB slot (but James Davis could be that guy), and that he just may be a steal. But I hate to lose out on Cribbs' production, which could conceivably fall off if Massaquoi or Robiskie take root. Cribbs is listed as the number 2, but Mangini said that he will probably rotate the three. But, a lot of good things happen when Cribbs gets the ball. I just don't know if he's worth giving up for a POSSIBLE gem.

For the moment, my other receivers are Andre Johnson, Santanna Moss and Derrick Mason. I also have Kenny Britt(who had 15 points tonight).

I got cold feet yesterday. I guess I could offer the guy a trade today. I am thinking that maybe I should take Wells, but the way my league scores return men is 1 point for every 10 yards, and 5.9 when reaching 100 (which I convinced the commissioner to change to 150 or 200 for next year), which is almost like getting 5.9 points for free. RBs score 1 point for every 5.5 yards and 5.9 when they reach 100 (and 5.9 when they reach 200). Of course both get 6 points for a TD.

Come on, guys. What do you think? With Cribbs being one of the best in the game, plus a possible regular 2WR, should I keep him, or take my chances with Wells?

This week Wells is projected to do only about 8 points, and Cribbs, about 23. Those are just projections, and only for this week. If Beanie ramps it up, he'll probably project around 20-25 a week also (for instance Deangelo is projected to do about 23 as well).

this is almost a toss up.

if it were me, i would make the trade just for wells...even tho i believe vick will be a nonfactor this season. unless mcnabb gets hurt or stinks it up, i don't think he'll see the field except for the occasional gimmick play.

it may not happen in week one, but when all is said and done, i think wells is going to be BIG.

on the other hand, cribbs could money right now while mendenhall is dead weight.

BTW, I did drop Mendenhallm but that was to take a chance on Meachem. Unfortunately I had to give up McCoy because I had to fill out a roster spot on the D-Line. But, I traded him away to a team who can't possibly do a whole lot of damage. I also picked up Chaz Schilens off waivers to stash away.

    • Your thoughts? I don't think the trade up or even down value system stays exactly in place this year. Look at all the bad trades that hurt teams that give away too much (49ers for Lance, even us w/the Bears set us back). What trade up except Mahomes/KC was it really a great trade for the team giving up a lot? Same with trading down. Teams will know you don't want to pick and they won't be giving the store to move up because there is not a generational talent to do that for. Now, I believe these possibilities.  The Giants probably won't take QB-Sanders at 3, it's too much pressure if it doesn't work. They don't really need another edge rusher with Carter. I can see them possibly saving face, trade down to even the Panthers at 8 but not asking for a kings ransom. A 1st round swap, a 3rd and 4th and maybe next years 2nd and 4th could be enough without giving up too much. The Giants save in pay and in public opinion and then they can take Sanders or even another QB. For the Panthers to drop down, it has to mean their top 3 picks are not there. Do they take TE-Warren if he drops in their lap at 8 (I do like that)? I believe they would love to drop back but again I don't think teams will pay a lot to move up unless they want a QB before the Saints (our only hope for a good value).  I'm not picking a player, just thinking of the draft in general and value. Reaching doesn't work and more and more teams are realizing that.
    • With the new DL, we should be better at edge by simple addition.   What player would have the biggest impact on the Panthers?  I still see the plan to trade back and take Emmanwori if we can find a trade partner.  Why, you ask?  S is a huge need and they have really only looked at 1 visits/meetings.  We will try to trade up for Princely in the second.  A WR in the third  (Bech or Noel).
