Possible implications moving forward

Yeah, I've got to to disagree with the OP on this one.

Cam really played terrible for the first three quarters. His passes lacked any zip, he was off target on a number of occasions and he floated a few like the bad old days. His playing was really like he thought we should win this one and that he didn't want to lose it. It wasn't until it really looked like we were going to lose the game that he woke up, When he did, he became that guy we drafted and the one who deserves to do the Superman thing in the endzone. Three quarters is a long way to go before a guy wakes up, but maybe this will be that career moment for him.

Stewie ran hard and played like a leading back should. It's about time. Maybe this was his wake up game, too. He's got to run with authority on every down, though.

If we get games like this from our receiving corps on a regular basis, we're probably going to keep on winning. Funchess finally started to turn it around and Philly Brown finally showed some life!

Our O-line did well, run and pass blocking. Oher missed a bad one early on, but he held steady the rest of the day.

Stew is a hard runner, but his vision is nothing like DWilliams' was.

Funchess is going to be a solid #2 one day.  I am so happy, for his confidence, that he finished strong.

Right about Cam.  However, he did not pout, he did not cry.  He put the team on his back and stepped up.  Hats off.

Philly Brown and how he was used might be the best example of why people might be a bit harsh on Shula.  The reverse early was to neutralize their aggressive pass rushers on the end.  It was smart.  He also threw in some unbalanced line formations that caused Seattle some problems.

Good point, but he was off.  He was wide right on a shovel/shuffle pass.  He underthrew a few people, and (in fairness) he had some drops.

To your point--Cam is better in the no huddle, hurry up offense.  But lets face it--for whatever reason--he is a bit streaky and always has been.  He had 169 yards passing in the 4th quarter.

When our running game is working, however, he is much better.

Not gonna deny your point. He was very off for most of the game. It seemed like he was pressing for the first 3 quarters. But one thing I must say, his growth as a QB is impressive. He never mailed it in. He never gave up. His body language stayed positive. Showed me more in his response to horrible play than when he has just great games.

Bingo.  That is what I saw in Cam that stood out the most.  With our defense, he can wait for his moments.  I am not a fan of his mechanics, but qbs who can run often have feet that are out of position when they throw.

I'm not a Roman Harper apologist or anything.  I agree we need to improve at safety in the offseason.

However, to be fair to him, lets not forget that Jimmy Graham is still one of the best tight ends in the NFL and can be a huge mis-match.  Harper never should have been on him as much as he was.  Not to mention a couple of plays where Graham got open, it was because Wilson extended plays.  Hard to expect there to be many defensive players as a whole who will be able to maintain good coverage on Graham in that situation.

Thankfully for us, there aren't many Graham's at tight end in the NFL.  I don't think we should be too concerned.  Not yet, anyway.

I wish we would run the no huddle more often. Our offense just seems to flow so much better when Cam is out there running it on his own.

-Safety play was less than good.

Harper is becoming a liability.  The man was getting raped yesterday by Graham.

Roman Harper seems to be the chink in our armor.

Harper has always been a liability. He's been the weakest player on the defense since he joined the team

yep. i like what we have in Coleman and Boston. But it is evident that we need an infusion of talent there this coming offseason. Coleman has played very well so far, but that circus touchdown over his shoulder was completely preventable. He didnt even seem to jump for the ball on the play. it was like he thought he had the receiver boxed out and was content to just let the ball come to him. i hope he learned his lesson. Go get the ball even when it seems like an easy pick. not giving up on Coleman by any stretch. He is a good player. But Roman Harper needs to go after this season, and we need some fresh talent.

But 19-0 looks really good now.

uhm... one week at a time. for your own sake, take it one week at a time. Carolina may have gain respect with their win yesterday, but they still arent playing dominant football. These next three weeks, as we've been saying all offseason, will truly test the mettle of our team. Dallas will be a tough game, especially if both Romo and Dez make it back in time. Atlanta, as much as i hate to admit it, will be a tough team to beat. Not to mention that we still have to play the Saints in their Dome with Brees, Tampa who always plays us tough, the Giants who no one should sleep on, the Redskins who arent all that bad, and the Titans.

Dont get me wrong, its possible we do go 16-0. but nothing will be gifted to the Panthers this season. for your own peace of mind, i recommend just enjoying each week as they pass. try not to get caught up in 16-0 talk unless its week 17 and we are 15-0...

I still don't think the 4th down play call was a bad one. Olsen was opened and they fell for it but Cam whiffed on the pass. That's player exuection. That's the difference in play calls looking correct or not. If your players don't run the play correctly or don't make the pass it's not the plays fault.

The biggest problem I have with that play is that me, on my couch, 2000 miles away, knew what the play would be and I'm betting so did Earl Thomas III.

we have the worst safeties in the NFL..coleman is a slightly better nakamura and harper is just trash

I disagree. Coleman has been outstanding other than the touchdown yesterday. If you watched 2012, Nakamura couldn't tackle worth a lick and was quite possibly the most worthless defensive back I've ever seen play.

i've been watching coleman and he misses quite a few tackles himself..and his lack of size and athleticism limits him in coverage..i'm just not a fan..i think boston should be starting
