Funchess

Yes he's had a rough go of it.   But lets not forget that KB had a rough start of it with dropping the wide open passes.   Until he had that one semi circus catch on the sideline.   And Funchess had that same semi circus catch today on the sideline.   And then he didn't drop a pass after that.  Sp lets see what happens from hear on out.

He's raw.  He's talented.  He's young and he will make mistakes and have mental errors.  But he was clutch in the end and might have taken steps in the right direction.  I will give him the benefit of the doubt and a little faith.  He is improving but he might not always show his best…but he is learning and Cam will get him on the right path.

Im pretty sure he just turned 21 and is one of the youngest players in the league. With that being said he will need to grow into his "NFL" body. KB come out of college at 24 i believe and could physically body nfl players, however thats asking alot of a kid who just turned 21. He needs time, training, and practice. I think gettleman drafted him on potential mostly.

Yeah, that was a hell of a big stage for a 21yr old rookie. Those late clutch catches he made should boost his confidence tremendously. I feel pretty good about this kid going forward.

I admire his grit.  Let's not forget kelvin struggled with drops as well.  Funchess will be a fine player for us his development is just a bit slower than kelvins.  He will get there and tonight I believe he showed us.  Those catches will come with more experience that's a big game for a rook and he caught the one he absolutely had to catch though I'd like to see more consistency.  And by the way I thought philly had a quiet but great game. Helped moved the chains often today.

Showed why he's a project and why we drafted him.

FYI, Justin Hardy isn't even active in Atlanta. It's a matter of personnel at the position, and with Ted Ginn being our number one receiver, it's kind of difficult not to put Funchess out there even if he may need some time to become a regular starter.
