First Two Sacks of the NFL Season

every team does it. every team screws up and lets someone go who has potential and every team screws up and keeps some players longer than others.

the team makes more good judgment calls than not.

am i going to ignore the mistakes? no. am i going to harp on them? no. i'd rather move on and look forward. looking back means squat. what are you going to do from this point on? that is all that matters. the person who stands and stares back at past glories or past mistakes goes nowhere.

I'm not whining about it. This is my team good or bad, I'm just making an observation.

Point is, we held onto KEARY COLDBERT and cut those guys two different years. NOW THAT, is inexcusable.

I'm kind of excited about Leonard and Harris though, I'd like to see what they can do Sunday.

A little perspective...

We had some great defensive plays last season made by a DE who the Raiders thought wasn't worth hanging onto and a DT that the Rams thought would never amount to anything.

Our de facto third receiver is a guy who the Lions didn't think was worthy of a spot on the regular roster, even though they'd drafted him in the fifth round. In his place, they now have Keary Colbert.

The starting QB who has led the team to its most successful seasons was for years kept on the bench behind Aaron Brooks, even when Brooks was injured and fans were practically begging the coach to start him (a decision which Jim Haslett has since admitted was...a bad one).

Our Super Bowl season saw some great moments by, among others, a backup defensive end that the Dolphins traded away to acquire Jay Williams, a receiver who the Eagles thought wasn't as good as Freddie Mitchell in the 2001 draft, and a runningback who the Redskins thought had nothing left in the tank.

Aaaand last but not least, we have our current starting running back in part because the all-knowing, always infallible drafting geniuses in New England thought Laurence Maroney would be a better choice. So much so that they traded up ahead of the Panthers to take him.

It works both ways.
