Rivera and the bye week

So Riverboat has been outscored 125 to 46 after the bye week, but it seems to me that this year he has a deeper tool chest to throw at the Seahawks. Our defense is stronger/quicker than last year and the offense is pretty solid with the O line giving Cam some protection. So we match well and are a physical team but this will by far be the toughest defense we have faced so far.

Seahawks defense seems to tire in the 4Q, so I think we rush using Stew/Foz/Cap to change speeds and have Brown/Ginn run for the edge to wear them out once in awhile. And the surprise is Cap has a killer game and we rush for over 70% of the time. Rivera just pounds the ball from start to finish- taking a shot downfield once in while...

Will Rivera have any surprises in this year's return from the bye?

A fan saying what they think their team should do? On a fan forum?! Now I've seen everything!

It isn't the lame advice it is the redundant threads that people do about the same topics over and over. Why is the advice lame? Saying we should run most of the time assumes that Seattle won't adjust to your running by stacking the box which we will have to loosen up by throwing. Novel concept.  We take what the defense is giving up and we adjust as we go to what they are doing if the initial plan doesn't work. So whatever gameplay we have will have to be tweaked and changed as we go .

Now we wait for the obligatory Shula and  Rivera  are bad at making adjustments and they suck comments.

We should all feel sorry for panther55 bc he is a mod and has to click these threads to make sure that.....wait,what? Panther55 isn't a mod and has no obligation to click and read threads?

Oh.....

Well then.

I suppose I have as much as right to click on whatever I want and comment as you do commenting about me and using my name when I have not addressed you or make a comment to you.  I didn't call you out why feel the need to do the same to me. Are you related to the poster,or feeling defensive in anticipation of the next crappy thread you start?

simply pointing out that you DONT have to click a thread bc it is there.

Clicks thread.

Proceeds to reads thread.

Gets internet angry that OP made thread.

Seems you could have saved yourself some valuable time by stopping yourself before step one or two.

It's always dicey to start threads but I should have been more clear...I think Rivera is going to try throw Carrol off in some way either changing some passing schemes or utilizing lesser used players. I think CAP is good change of pace and could have a break out game since there isn't much film on him.

"They have been so dreadful after bye weeks that Rivera changed this week’s schedule in hopes of changing his luck.

Instead of his normal practice schedule of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the Panthers practiced Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

"For whatever reason, we do seem to have a little bit of a struggle [coming off a bye]," Rivera said. “We have tried different things and this is another chance to see if this helps us. So hopefully this is it."

A win on Sunday could end up making it look like Rivera fixed a real problem, and a loss will surely be proof for some that the coach still doesn't know how to come off a bye week. That's what happens when you've got some kind of funky streak going, whether there's a real reason for it or not.

You are right. We look at year to year situations and link them for meaning when the teams themselves were very different and any conclusions are tenuous at best.

Comparing what we did coming off the bye in 2011 to what this team will do against Seattle tomorrow doesn't speak to much in common with coaches or players and the only links may be Rivera and it is after the bye.

i am hoping another Rivera myth gets busted this week when we do win.

possibly...

but often with lesser experienced players coaches often assume it increases the turnover potential.

Ron IMO already knows how to beat Seattle.  I don't think he needs to reinvent the wheel this week.  Players just need to get it done.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
