CHARLOTTE -- The Carolina Panthers sound confident that defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu's ankle injury isn't serious, but they're auditioning a few players at his position just in case.

They worked out defensive tackles Tim Anderson and LaJuan Ramsey on Tuesday, keeping an eye on potential reinforcements.

Kemoeatu suffered a sprained right ankle Sunday, and wasn't able to finish the win over Denver. The next day, he was on crutches and in a walking boot, which team officials termed precautionary. When asked about Kemoeatu's sprained right ankle Monday, Panthers coach John Fox expressed optimism.

tough call....do we rest him so that he can be healthy for the playoffs or work him so that we can get the homefield advantage?

he's better be healthy if he plays. we can't afford to be without him. we really need another giant DT next year to at least back him up.
