I won $64,000 dollars playing fanduel, the only difference between me and everyone else was that I played. You can play too for a buy-in as low as $1.

I won 5 billion dollars with a 1 penny buy in. I know it's not much, but it's good to have some extra spending money. If y'all played you could win 5 billion dollars too.

no doubt people are making money on the sites, but those who are making BIG money are way way way low percentages vs the chumps who are throwing money into the pot.  Plus those two sites aren't profitable yet -- their player acquisition costs are WAY high, dinging their bottom line.

Add in the question of exactly how much luck is involved (vs the "skill" of picking a roster), and it'll only be a matter of time before DraftKings and FanDuel get classified as gambling.

It's basically a glorified keno game, but instead of numbers you're picking players. /shrug.

Those daily fantasy sites can be a scam if you do the big payouts. I've had some pretty stellar lineups and haven't made it into the top 50% when I'm in the lottery style setups with 250K people.

But when I play the games with ~500 people and a $10 buy in I always seem to win $20-$75. I read an article about whales that put up $30K a week in entry fees and use crazy algorithms to screw the common man.

Bottom line? If your gonna use daily fantasy sites, do a few hundred players and below in your games otherwise it's a sucker bet.

look at that guy maxdulury and condia on draftkings they fill up every tournament because they are millionaires

I think they're going to have a hard time classifying this as gambling. Proving that picking a winning team is luck vs skill won't be easy.

I mi thought the FBI investigation was going to look into them being Ponzi schemes more than whether or not they're gambling.

Here's a pro poker's player opinion regarding online poker sites and some very specific other players who were involved with some of them: http://danielnegreanu.com/list-players-barred-wsop/

(TL;DR - there's a difference between a ponzi scheme and gross negligence/mismanagement when it comes to poker. Whether that applies to DK/FD or not has yet to be decided)

yeah I'm familiar with all of this (I'm a big poker play BTW). But yes, I mean I think this is what the FBI is investigating rather than determining whether or not fantasy football is gambling. 1) the FBI wouldn't be needed to determine whether FF is a game of chance or not and 2) if that was the ruling then it would impact all fantasy football. I'm sure you can argue that there is no money directly involved with regular ESPN FF, but that whole argument seems like a challenge IMHO.

Edit: by "you" I mean you in general not you personally

From the FantasyDraft.com website:

Playing daily fantasy sports is legal no different than playing in traditional season long fantasy leagues. In 2006, Congress passed The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) to outlaw unlawful internet gambling. In the law, Congress specifically addressed the legality of Fantasy Sports, classifying it as a game of skill. In particular, Congress exempted:

"Participation in any fantasy or simulation sports game or educational game or contest in which (if the game or contest involves a team or teams) no fantasy or simulation team is based on the current membership of an actual team that is a member of an amateur or professional sports organization and meets the following conditions:
  1. All prizes and awards offered to winning participants are established and made known to the participants in advance of the game or contest and their value is not determined by the number of participants or the amount of any fees paid by participants.
  2. All winning outcomes reflect the relative knowledge and skill of the participants and are determined predominantly by accumulated statistical results of the performance of individuals (athletes in the case of sports events) in multiple real-world sporting or other events.
  3. No winning outcome is based:
    • a. On the score, point spread, or any performance or performances of any single real world team or any combination of such teams; or
    • b. Solely on any single performance of an individual athlete in any single real-world sporting or other event."

FantasyDraft is in complete compliance with the UIGEA thus our games are 100% legal.

There are a handful of states that have varying interpretations of what is considered a game of skill and therefore legal. Those states are Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, and Washington State. If you are a resident of one of these "restricted states" you may register and play in a subset of our free contests but you are not permitted to deposit funds or play any of our cash games.

This is the Black and Blue Review sponsored site,  They have a weekly free contest.  I personally have deposited $0, and won maybe $20.  Its kinda fun, but I can see how some people dump a ton of money in and either have algorithms to win and those who blow a ton of money after seeing the stupid commercials.
