In the timeline it's been 30 years since ROTJ. I hope they don't do any reference jokes to the previous movies. We all (most) grew up with SW don't need the *throw back humor. No "I thought I told you to never tell me the odds." Nerfherder..blahh

If you were the Star Wars nerd I was you'd know that R2 doesn't speak "droid" since that isn't an actual language. It's some form of binary astromech language. 3PO speaks multiple languages, including the binary language R2 uses.

You can't have the movies without some reference back jokes. If they are smart, they will only reference Ep. 4 and Ep. 5., maybe Ep. 6. 

Really, no one is going to laugh, except uncomfortably, over a throwback joke referencing Anikin or Jar Jar. One Dooku joke and they'll blow it.
