There's been massive speculation that the USC Trojans would go hard after Eagles coach Chip Kelly if they fired head coach Steve Sarkisian, something that's been rumored for a while 

Sarkisian was officially canned today.

With that now done and Kelly off to a slow start in Philly, the possibility of a Nick Saban / Bobby Petrino style exit raises its head.

Could be some intrigue going on when we play the Eagles.

Their offense will own our D. The two times we played them, once in pre season, once in regular season, we have looked awful

we're not the same defense we were last season. they gobbled up our secondary but that's the spot we've most improved.

my only real concern about our defense at this point (aside from 59's health) is gap discipline by the interior DL and obviously a consistent pass rush off the edges. neither of these things particularly stymie us going against the eagles roster.

preseason....everyone looks bad not gameplanning for it. 

Chip Kelly isn't new anymore.  Ron is good.  A year of film is now on his O.   Ron got the D

Outside of the Saints game, the most the Eagles have scored this season is 24 points. That's not "owning".

I'd be highly surprised if that happened mid season- Philly fans would literally riot 

You gotta figure Southern Cal will offer him the world with a cherry on top.

Heck, even if he says he'd never leave Philly, it could definitely turn into a distraction.

Chip Kelly is currently making 6.5 Million per year. If he were to ditch his contract which has 2 more seasons after this then he would have to have some really good incentives. Nick Saban is the highest paid coach with 7.3 Million per season and I honestly do not see a situation where he would leave unless USC pays him above 8 million. Plus the sour taste of Lane Kiffin still lingers which makes USC a hot mess right now.

Nick Saban is the highest paid coach with 7.3 Million per season and I honestly do not see a situation where he would leave unless USC pays him above 8 million. Plus the sour taste of Lane Kiffin still lingers which makes USC a hot mess right now.

I could see them offering 7.5 a year for 5 years or more plus perks.

Plus his approach is better suited to the college level and he'd arguably have more control there.

that and their QBs are all interception machines....

      The Eagles have been an up and down team there's no telling which version of them we'll get. But it is a home game for them so that atmosphere is going to be tough. If Bryce can at least have us competing and keeping it close I will feel good about him going forward. But I do wonder what Canales confidence level in this offense is. He's gotta realize this team only has 3 wins. Take some risks. See what your group is made of. The conservative stuff is more of the same that this beleaguered fanbase doesn't need. We are in agreement. He will be here to compete next year regardless. All I've maintained is that unless he finishes looking stellar we should not sit on our hands again in relation to the rest of the QB room. That's all. Appreciate the convo.

      Dude, its 13 points if you think about it. I guess you take away the three since they kicked the FG after the TD no call was upheld, but Eddie missed two very makeable kicks and they can't be whining about the run game since a fumble sealed the game! Starting to think a lot of people around here don't know football. I get it, it's a message board, but they come on and start threads and it seems like they don't watch the games. There are ESPN takes on here with people who are supposed to be diehards.
