ESPN Power Rankings

Yeah, NFL "power rankings" are for entertainment purposes only.  The only rankings that matter are divisional rankings and wildcard rankings and those are set in stone.  No opinions necessary.

unfortunately the Falcons are leading the division outright with them at 5-0 and us at 4-0 :(

i think the Saints could surprise on thursday night though. that team always plays tough in the Dome in primetime

I'm not sure that put them ahead. i.e. I don't think we get penalized for having a bye week.

Playoff standings, again ESPN so take with a grain of salt, say "Wins tie break over Atlanta based on best win percentage in division games."

It could just be wrong, but NFL.com mentions in the tie-breaker procedures that they go by "win percentage". We both have 100%, so maybe it goes to division games after that.

So what?  The Falcons are in 1st place. No need arguing that point.

Pretty sure standings are based on win percentage. An 8-6-2 team would be tied with a 9-7 team for instance. I don't know about who's ahead of who right now, but it really doesn't matter.

No.  Standings are never based on win percentage.  The win percentage is used if there is a tie.  In this case the Falcons are .5 games ahead so win percentage doesn't matter.  This is how standings have always worked.

I'd need the source on this. Let's ignore the fact that win percentage is usually the same when teams are tied because of math.
