The #2 we let get away.

Few people may remember this guy when he was on our practice squad.

But my memory is long when it comes to receivers (surprise, surprise)!

Some may believe that this is Snead's 15 minutes under the sun, or that he is just making noise due to the Saints lack at the position , but Willie Snead is doing his thing on the big stage of the NFL. He has put on a little weight, runs excellent routes, has excellent hands, surprisingly fights for every ball, and is arguably Drew Brees' favorite receiver. Perhaps Brandin Cooks is enough to take pressure away (not really), but Snead is the leading receiver on the Saints right now.

Amazing, isn't it? A diamond in the rough found by our very own Dave Gettleman, but one thrown back in the mud while we kept the industrial grade stones only good for applications in those cheap glass cutters that you can buy at the dollar store.

Willie Snead the Fourth could have been our next Victor Cruz...maybe...Let's make sure that someone like Damiere Byrd isn't the next Willie Snead.

What does Sneed have to do with whether or not Bryd will pan out?

Your hindsight scouting abilities are epic.

Another illogical response. This is neither about my scouting abilities or about Damiere Byrd (per se). It is just a statement of fact. Snead was on our practice squad, is a productive WR---more productive than ours---and is making a positive name for himself for our division foe when it could have been us.

I'm sure there are more than just 2.  and the same can be said for every team in the league.  sometimes a player just doesn't fit the scheme of the team and goes else where and does good.  Doesn't mean the team that released him was ignorant.  They did what was best for their team at the time.

So let's just take a deeper look at this real quick.

Willie Snead currently has 381 yards receiving through 5 games. Only thing about that is, nearly half of those yards (141) occurred in 1 game recently against the Eagles where the Saints were getting thoroughly pounced (Final score was 39-17), and Brees was padding his stats as usual after the game was out of reach.

Conclusion from world renowned talent evaluator top dawg?

"He's the next Victor Cruz!"

Wow, your ego knows no bounds top dawg.

So are you just going to casually omit all the other starters Gettleman has found for us?

This has absolutely nothing to do with my ego or "all the other starters Gettleman has found for us".

I knew that people would give their snarky responses and pull Gettleman's shorts out the drawer to take a whiff when I posted this, but it's not going to change the fact that we let Snead get away.

You'd think that some of you were Gman himself, from the way that you can't admit that this was an error at worst, or at least an oversight. I mean, some people do have a hard time accepting responsibility when they fug up. I don't think Gman is one of them. He accepts his responsibility like a man's man. But, then again, he has plenty of mindless minions on the Huddle that jump to his defense even when it's not warranted.

The thread is about Willie Snead IV, haters, and how we possibly need to take more time and effort to develop players, give them a real chance to succeed, as well as set them up to succeed when their number is called. This is particularly true as it pertains to positions of need like what we have at receiver right now.  Byrd just happens to be a receiver...and on our practice squad right now.

I just basically laugh at some of the responses. They are really entertaining.

Willie Snead, bitches! LOL

yea I was a little disappointed when I found out Snead had been trying out with us he has become pretty productive down in the pit

Finally a response that makes sense as opposed to all the apologist B.S. about working at burger joints, being in Payton's system, going against this team or that blah blah blah.

It's all just noise.

WILLIE SNEAD, BITCHES! LOL
