I think people's ADD kicks in and now that's harder to do. I mean in a comic that works but on a week to week show that may be too long of an arc.

If this season looks like Negan is Level 4 and once he is killed or whatever they go to level 5 for the next boss then I'm out.

That goes hand in hand to why  TWD TV show needs to get away trying to milk the comic and go slow using only that as source material.

They need an end date and to be working toward the finish.  Without THAT there is nothing else for them to do except for leveling up over and over.

I think they need to diviate and go there own way.  TV show seems too focused on staying true to the comic and it causes its own issues now.  It makes the storytelling bad because they are getting over focused on trying to fool people that know basically what they intend to do

I agree.  I dont want it to end, but its like i was telling my wife the other night, theyre going to keep following this same pattern until they dont, and that will mark the end of the show.  I said, for example, they arent going to find any place safe, secure, free of a nemesis out to destroy them, because if they did, no one would want to watch that lol.  But, conversely, they cant keep finding a place, thinking its the solution, running into a new bad guy, fight the bad guy, have some people die, kill the bad guy, feel safe again, then meet a new bad guy, rinse, repeat.

There is a balance in there somewhere, and they havent done a very good job of walking it for over a season now.  On the talaking dead, kirkman said the season 7 premiere is basically them saying "we're not going anywhere.  There is still a lot we have to do and we're just gettinf started..."  so, there goes that whole setting an end date thing, lol.

Yeah, the whole worse and worse sicko bad guy thing is beginning to wear thin. And I understand conflict is integral to story telling, but this has been one big, long, slow band-aid pull off since the end of last season. The episode actually seemed gratuitous, and that's saying something.

I would like a couple of times to zoom out and look around to what's going on elsewhere.  I'm not saying fear the Walking dead Boise but give me some new scope and perspective.

Give me a peek back to the CDC and see what's going on.

I have thought this is how it ends. At some point the group has nowhere else to go. They all realize it. Group is sitting around a fire and down to their last bit of food and ammo.

Somebody says something philosophical and the camera begins to slow pan bacl and as it gets further away you see only a few miles from them a large military installation and it's organized and safe.

Pans back even more and it shows the whole country and you see how it has been depeleted and the camera slowly fades to black.

lol Negan isn't going anywhere for a long time, unless the showrunners have really lost their minds...

Quit crying.

It's becoming recycled every year. Ooh. This guy has a bat. The next guy has a 64 Comet station wagon with a sled on the front with shards of glass. He makes people run and he plays Barry Manilow as he runs over them.

Then after that it's the Zoo people.  If they don't eat the animals they use them to kill the zombies by using sign language.

Break some new ground instead of gore porn. Which has its place but if that's your barometer then i have some video games for ya.

7 seasons.  This is only the 2nd big bad. How is that "recycled every year"? Negan is nothing like the Governor, and the more you try to show you know what you're talking about, the more ignorant you look.

I don't think you have a clue what "gore porn" really is, but I can show you some if you're interested. Your fuging feelings got hurt because a character you liked died a gruesome, horrific death, one which I can promise you was way more traumatic and brutal when I read it in the comics several years ago.

If you can't handle TWD, there's a shitty ass show called Z Nation you'll probably love.

You knew you were tuning in to see someone get their cranium caved in with a baseball bat covered with barbed wire.  It's gratuitous when it happens to Glenn, but you didn't bat an eye when Rick and Gang were going around murdering Negan's men in their sleep.

You probably think Rick is the goddamn hero or something. You need to watch something less morally ambiguous I think, like Criminal Minds or some poo.

Gore porn.  Get the fug out of here with that weak ass poo.

The only motherfugers crying here are Glenn fanboys.  Abraham was a much bigger loss in the character department.

I liked Glenn but he isn't my fav but man someone is feeling a little wrapped up in some fiction.

Let me make this easy for you.  I'm not talking the entire 7 years hammer head. The last 2 are beginning to resemble a video game(and the gore porn is for drawing NEW people in. Not the entire series).  If your weak ass can't handle that then crawl back to your trailer.

Whoa. You mean there isn't gray areas of people's psyche and moral compass? Man i have never considered that.  I thought Rick was on a journey to Mecca the whole time but this truth bomb of him being just as bad as Negan because of his justifying his killing it is too much.

Stop feeding at the arrogance troth. I get all facets of the ambiguity.

I hope you finish that Carol tat soon bro so you can go cosplay in Myrtle.

Wow. Just wow.

Negan makes the Governor look like Ronald McDonald.  That is true in the comics IMO and they conveyed that very nicely Sunday.

The brutality and gore is a storytelling device here, not gore porn.  It is selling that Negan is not your ordinary bad guy like the ones the group have been dealing with to this point.

He is nasty as fug, but also has a weird moral code in his own right.  He will kill a person in front of his pregnant wife in the most despicable way possible, but still let everyone else live as long as they give him supplies and works for him no questions asked.  He has amassed a huge following because that code allows him to provide for his people like no one else in this world can to this point.

You kill his people, he will not retaliate just by killing all your people, he will totally break you and provide himself and his people with more assets and supplies in the process.  Rick would have likely killed them all if the roles were reversed for instance.  Negan in turn added to his numbers, gained power, and added workers to provide for his group.

And if the show runners play it right, there is really nowhere to go up from Negan.  He is a fascinating, humorous, and at times weirdly charming in his weird sadistic way in the comics and he is likely here to stay on the show.

I wouldn't really say Negan is worse than the Governor. There is a method to Negan's madness where the Governor was just a loose cannon. In the comics it was clear that Negan only did what he did because Rick fuged up big time. Negan is definitely the more interesting character though. What I'm worried about is that to the majority of the audience Negan is irredeemable now. They're not going to forgive him for killing Glenn and Abe just because Rick killed a bunch of red shirts. It could end up hurting the shows ratings if they use him to his full potential.

And the ratings part is what im getting at for the gore porn stuff. My fear is that becomes a crutch to either keep or grab new viewers.

And no they have not been doing that but don't fall into that trap is what i mean.

True.  But I am probably in the minority of comic readers in that actually liked the TV portrayal of The Governor more than the comic.

But the fact there is method to Negan's madness and the fact that he won't just break you physically but also mentally is what makes him that much more formidable and scary to me.
