Walking Dead Season 6

JJman Returns

Recommended Posts

My critique now is most of last season and i hope it doesn't continue is this show is becoming video gameish. Each tribe is a new level and they have to beat the big bosses (Gov/Terminus/Negan etc) to go to the next level.

Last night was riveting no doubt but we shall see if they change anything up.

I still feel like they ruined their Red Wedding moment to end a season, but I can guaran-damn-tee you that the show just got a huge boost with that one episode.

One thing about Negan is that he'll make the whole series better just by being there. He's way more interesting and a better character than anyone the show has seen so far. He's made the comics worth reading at times, and he will definitely make the show worth watching.

Major props to JDM for his portrayal, and major props to the showrunners for not pussying out.

This is something the show has missed for a long time... the element of brutality that this world would bring out in people.

After a while you'll all see that the only real difference in Negan and Rick is that Negan is almost 100% emotionless and it lends him strength, while Rick is almost 100% emotional, and it is his biggest weakness. Other than that, they are basically the same.

Yeah they screwed up by not having this last season.  Giving people a whole summer to think on it was too much.   Though as a comic fan (as you are) I think they did pretty well with the episode and it was pretty close.   I actually don't think we even needed Abraham but I think he lost in contract negotiations lol (which is why I think they waited a season for leverage).

Since they ruined Governor, it's nice they seem to be doing right by Negan's character.

Decent.. Not a bad way to start the season... I agree that the 1st felt anticlimactic, but then "On with the show.." made the whole episode worthwhile. Ive been waitin on that to happen, I felt the dumpster bit was more treating the audience like stupid than the 'Who' cliffhanger we got last season. I was almost done after the dumpster, but not now....

Not a problem on the PM... no biggie.

I agree... they totally ruined the season finale, ESPECIALLY in light of the fact that Glen was also killed.

Had they killed Abraham on the season finale, nobody would have expected them to kill Glenn last night and it would have been 1,000X more shocking, so I think they really screwed up in that regard.

Even given my attitude toward the show at this point, it was a solid episode.

haven't watched in two seasons - read summaries and watched the episode and....I feel like I haven't missed anything at all

this show is razor cakes for me. I think it's going to be good, then it's just more of the same or boring.

I'm glad you guys enjoy it though

My God what an episode!!! Lucille is bitch!!

I gotta give props to Rick. He did a fantastic job....even the snot bubble that came out of it nose from crying and begging Neagan not to make him chop off Carl's hand...wow....I was pretty much speechless the entire time.

If you haven't watched it yet...don't watch this whilst eating...

I agree that it should have been the finale of last season. Even if it was, chances are the two death thing would have leaked before it aired. The Walking Dead has more spoilers leaking than any other show I've ever seen. As far as the no f-bombs go, I actually preferred the censored scene to the uncensored. The uncensored made Negan seem too cartoonish and the over the top ways he said fug was just silly.

Am I the only one who can't stand the kid who plays Carl? I really think Carl would play a bigger part in the show if he wasn't such a shitty actor.

Yeah, Carl is the worst actor on the show.  But, you kind of paint yourself into a corner when you start a show and use a very young actor.  Basically have to ride with whatever type actor they are.....because I personally never can get past replacing an actor with a random new dude.

as far as the episode.  I avoided the spoilers so the 2 person was a surprise.  I nailed Abe as the intital victim and the moment the Daryl punch landed knew instantly Glenn would get the punishment for it.

Overall, the slow play of everything as they "tease and toy" with the audience is getting old.  I mean, the entire 2nd half of the season was a tease for Negan's entrance.  Then the first episode literally didn't advance the plot anywhere past where we left off last season.

In my opinion, TWD almost got Game of Thrones envy of late.  Which also hurts it b/c GOT is has been on point and TWD is the opposite despite wanting to be like it.  They are way behind.  Game of Thrones nailed certain things (Snow) and TWD seemed to want to capture comparable moments (failed cliffhanger).  But one thing of late Game of Thrones has going for it....is almost an accelerated plot going on now.  Yes, we have a big delay in the next season started but when we last left them they were on a furious pace of pushing the plot forward.  TWD is crawling.  Therefore you get satisfaction watching GOT and irritation watching TWD.  GOT obviously has it's flaws to but now that they have a clear end game the show doesn't waste time having filler seasons when a couple of episodes at most can get you to the next step.  TWD is basically MLB while GOT has turned into the NBA.

If TWD IMO wants to succeed they NEED to find a end date.  Then push the story line to it.  They have no end game insight and are over milking the comic plot line and teasing/delaying to stay behind.

Shows like this need an end game and date to work to IMO.  Until, Walking Dead does that....I suspect it will suffer some.

Everything that happened in this first episode should have happened in the season finale last year.

I read something in a review that I tend to agree with.

It seems writer/showrunner Scott Gimple is more interested in screwing with the audience than he is actually telling a good story.

Anyone with knowledge of the comic knows Glenn was killed by Negan. Yet last season they had the dumpster (fire) non-death, to the point where they took out Yuen's name from the credits and had a super weird Talking Dead where you weren't sure if Glenn died or not.

Then they differentiate form the comic slightly by killing Abe first...and then pull a GOTCHA! on the audience by recreating the Glenn killing later on. It's just really old at this point.

And Talking Dead is pretty funny when they treat a characters death as if someone really died. So stupid, how old are these people again?
