Walking Dead Season 6

"Start to Finish" had the setup to be a fantastic episode of The Walking Dead and a worthy midpoint to what's been a bumpy season. Had the episode explored Rick's conundrum about who to save, we'd be having a much more pleasant discussion. Instead, characters inexplicably acted like dunderheads because the writers thought that the endless flood of zombies into the safe zone wasn't enough to provide drama. That completely backfired, and what we were left with was a very disappointing mid-season finale that resolved nothing.

If I sound frustrated, it’s because I am. This was an empty, calorie- free hour of television, providing no new information, and failing to deliver much on thrills or character development. After seven episodes of rising calamity, the dam finally bursts, and nothing much comes of it. Oh sure, Deanna is dead and Morgan and Carol are probably going to have words later on. (Maybe Rick will banish Morgan or something, I dunno.) I hope Dr. Denise is okay. But I’m not much concerned about Rick and his group making their way to the armory clad in zombie guts, no matter how many times Sam says, “Mommy?” There was so much stalling going on, and we end with nearly every situation in doubt, with no sense of closure to help drive us forward to the next crisis. http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/walking-dead-shuffles-through-its-midseason-finale-229017

So it went for most of the hour. Lots of the Alexandria characters talking to each other about how they’re afraid to die or willing to die or how they had to protect each other. Or, in the case of Denise held hostage by one of the Wolves, dumb folks handing over their weapons to save a character we don’t care much about.

I wonder if the Dead audience is going to tire of being jerked around like this. There was a lot more suspense, over the same two hours of television, on Showtime’s Homeland and The Affair than there was in this Dead-Badlands duo. https://www.yahoo.com/tv/walking-dead-finale-negan-133102208.html

To non comic book readers this first half was probably a little slow to you guys but the pay off that's coming is worth every thing from this first half. Can't wait to see how they handle Negan.

I had given up on this show when they were still in the prison and the governor hadn't been taken care of like 2 seasons ago. I waited until the episodes where that battle finally took place then kept watching from there. The only time I've ever had a problem with this show is the whole pig/ disease thing and being at the prison to long. This show has been money ever since they've gotten out of the prison. This show is going to hit another level when Negan rolls throw. So much is about to hit the fans

I've been holding out hope for the Negan arc but, quite honestly, they have given us a half season of basically no real substance. I think they totally dropped the ball with the wolves arc, in that they had one real episode and then vanished except for Morgan's hostage. We had a background episode on Morgan that was alright but make me hate his character more and more each time I see him because of his refusal to adapt and see people as threats, and not what "they could be."
I mean, only every freakin' time in this universe that the main characters adapt the position of "we can make this place home, we can restart civilization, we can thrive, someone else comes and fugs that idea up. You would think they would adapt now instead of continuing down the same path over and over. How many Governors or wolves or Negans do they need to encounter before they change? TBQH I don't read the comics as soon as they come out for the similar reasons. I mean, it is a dystopian world that they are constantly trying to make utopia. I guess that is the story we are supposed to see through Rick, etc. in their struggles with it but, man, I just get burnt out. I guess they need to have a threat other than the zombies at all times to keep it interesting, but it just seems like the characters (especially on the show) waste time and effort on emotional bullshit.

That rant over, I agree it is still probably one of the best shows on TV, and I will still watch for lack of better things to do. But they need to shape up or people, like me, will start jumping off the wagon pretty fast.

I think "distopia they are trying to make into a utopia" is a mischaraterization. They aren't trying to make the world perfect again. They are trying to make the world NORMAL again. And normal before the fall was not killing people.

I for one found Morgan's solo episode to be one of the best of the series and made me root for him that much harder. It's easy to just kill people who might be threats. It's probably safer to be like that. But even Carol, the most bad ass one out of any of them who has killed a little girl sees how fuged up all this is. She's was looking right at Morgan and he is the example of another way of doing things. Very powerful writing there. They had been building that tension and I thought they did a good job of Morgan and his story line.

The Morgan solo episode was really well done as an episode on it's own.

But the whole "I don't kill" shtick that the writers have handcuffed his character with really makes him as useless as Eugene or more within the show itself with all the other characters. Yeah it might create stupid conflict, but it's something that becomes tiring really quickly.

In a world where you have bad asses like Rick, carol, the governor, the wolves, terminus, the saviors who kill anyone and everyone they deem a threat I think it's quite refreshing to have a bad ass who could kill and has done so before but chooses not to because he believes it's the right thing to do. Who is willing to protect life. That doesn't seem tiring to me

There were things I didn't like about the episode, leaving Deanna alone with the baby right after talking about how they can't leave Deanna alone with the baby being one of them, but I liked the way that there were a lot of one on one moments with different characters. Thought that Michonnes arc was good. Enough scary moments as well. People need to also remember that this is a basic cable TV show and regardless of the ratings they are on a budget and have to space out the big scenes - first ep next spring should be a big one. Didn't mind having this ep a big tease really.

Also, screw AMC with this making us watch the Badlands to get the goods.  That show sucks.  Quit that crap.  Also, Talking needs to be after Walking.   We get what you are doing.  Badlands blows though.

Hey! You watch your mouth pal! Badlands is a pretty damn good show so far...I think. I like it.

Yeah I am with many of the others here, the past few episodes haven't even been comment worthy.

I still enjoy the show, I'm no where near as critical as many of y'all are.

I enjoyed the episode, but the whole boys fighting thing was dumb.  I'm not totally sure why Carl wouldn't just sell out and say douche bag was trying to kill me.  Just kill the wolf...even for Morgan that made less than zero sense... I enjoyed his backstory episode, but the stick is wearing thin.

While I have enjoyed seeing what's happening to some of my favorite characters, even I (as a "soap opera" style watcher?) am a bit disappointed that nothing has happened in several episodes.  You know when it would have been fun to run into those bikers?  With a herd of 1,000 zombies behind them!  Now that would have been interesting!

Hopefully the next half season will pick back up.
