Walking Dead Season 6

JJman Returns

I liked it too, though I'm in the minority and have pretty much enjoyed the entire series. Interested to see where the Morgan/Rick stuff goes since that never happened in the comics.

You sure about that? Morgan shows back up in the comics... even though his comic character and show character aren't really the same alpha character...

Shooting up flares was a really stupid idea when they KNOW there is a weird group out there.  So much for "I don't take chances" anymore Rick.   And as stupid as this group was, there's no way they didn't know of a zombie horde a few miles in any direction from that camp.  I doubt they started scavenging 20 miles out and coming in, they probably explored close and then out.

I don't like the idea of Morgan showing up, all kung-fu and one with the universe, and all of a sudden trying to be Rick's Guru life coach.   That moved in too fast, especially since even though they knew each other, they didn't spend THAT much time together really.

I hope the "W" crew comes into play really soon to keep it moving.

Was pretty cool seeing Rusty from Vegas Vacation show up though lol.

It was an interesting episode but it really seemed like a case of writers painting themselves in a corner and having to move on.

The whole march of the zombos thing just didn't ring true. The quarry was a neat idea, but taking the walkers and luring them out to some great big surprise ending just didn't seem terribly plausible. Nowhere along the episode do they ever say what exactly they are going to do with the walkers and it made the truck horn at the end seem like a deus ex machina kind of move to not save the characters but to save the writers.

Morgan going from panicked survivor to paranoid survivor to wandering Kung FU guru of the wastelands is a heck of an arc for a character to take. There will have to be some sort of reckoning/explanation for this. It's going to have to be a doozy. Rick's character arc flip has a back story we've all watched by Morgan... the story will have to be good for the viewers to take his word for it.

I do, however, like how he sees right through Carol. Someone needs to be able to, if nothing else but to keep her character accountable.

Pretty good, overall, if way too heavy on the commercial breaks.

One last thought: Why didn't they come by and grab that tractor with the post hole auger on the back? That sure would have made the work on setting up the curve barricade a lot easier.

I think the horn is coming from Alexandria and is a cry for help.  I think the Wolves have used this opportunity with everybody gone to try and take it.  During the scenes it is clear something happens there.  I do not think it is walkers for two reasons:

1) Rick and Co. are not in the scenes and they would easily beat the herd back
2) The way Carol, Carl and others were moving around with their guns during the scenes leads me to believe that they are combating people rather than walkers

I think next weeks episode will run parallel in time to tonight's, just from the people at Alexandria's point of view.

Also, you know what grinds my gears (giggity)?

Rusty is afraid of walkers and looks completely helpless against them and then not even 5 minutes later he's taking lead BY HIMSELF!  And he f'ing dies by a walker stuck in a damn tree...

The writers have to improve on this.  Everyone knew it was coming.  These things were allowed to happen early on in the series, but not anymore imo.

I think the person blowing the truck horn is the young girl with the Zippo lighter that Carl was following around. Why is the big question.

Either she's trying to get help to the town quick, or she's pulling some sort of "I hate this place and the people in it" emo crap.

And the more I think on it, the dumber and dumber Rick's plan is. Unless he wants it to be a total screw up so that Alexandria sees how bad it needs to learn to fight. Honestly, that would be even dumber in the end.

Regarding them not finding the quarry previously, I just finished Season 5 this weekend; in the episode where Glen and the rest go out for the first time with Nicholas and the other guy, they said they've been "going out in an ever-growing semi-circle. Gotten as far out as 53 miles" or something like that. However, I distinctly remember thinking that the 'semi-circle' comment was weird, so it's possible that they only went in one direction. Seems ridiculous, but might further reinforce just how naïve they are.

I enjoyed the episode, but yeah the whole "lead a herd of zombies to somewhere" plot is a little contrived...   I can't think how they would think that's a good idea.  How long would it have taken to just go down there and start picking them off one by one, maybe a week or two to kill them all...

I thought the B&W thing was a tad insulting tbh...  I can figure out myself when it's a flashback and when it's not...

Interesting episode, and a good starting point for season six as it immediately introduces a strong conflict of survival.  I mean, how interesting would the season have been if they were all sitting happy behind the walls of Alexandria?

I do agree that the writers really put themselves in a sticky position at the end of season 5.  The pit of walkers was very deus ex machina.  Sounds like a good idea until you start to think about it.  It's only 2,000 walkers, and DC/Metro area is MILLIONS of people...seem a few million short.  But as with most fictional shows, we have to swallow some real BS to see our characters play.

I can see how Morgan would show up all at peace with things.  After what happened in Kingtown, he would have to change to survive.  I'd like to know more about his journey.  I love how he sees through all the BS that people surround themselves with, like Rick and Carol.

Rick takes no chances with people, but with walkers.  Because their easier to kill, and you don't feel bad about it.  But the whole leading them out was a dumb idea.  Instead, I would have found a way to blow the walls/ramps out and make it a better pit.  Then use some kind of fire to clean house.  Would have kept more folks around town.  Then again, I'm not a fictional zombie survivor...

I look forward to seeing the struggle for survival this season and where it takes the characters.  I hope they can find some levity there because too much doom and gloom wears too much on the show.  They need to have some fun, even insane fun.
