Walking Dead Season 6

JJman Returns

They really neutered Carl's TV character, at least for me, when they had him kill that random guy instead of killing the evil sibling Lizzie like the comic book Carl would have (and some could argue actually did, even though the siblings were different on the show)...

Think of what that one moment did for Carol's character... "Look at the flowers" was both a heartbreaking moment of reality, and a huge step in Carol's transformation into the character everyone loves now... Carl was robbed of that. His TV character is basically pointless now.

It may yet be saved.

Think about this. That one lady's oldest kid (not Sam, but the other). He obviously hates Carl and Rick. I think his whole "I'm trying to save  you" thing in last episode was a play. Just as getting Rick to teach him to shoot is a play. I think Carl ends up killing him. Then, the whole community has to handle that. As they do, walkers attack, and comic readers know what happens when the walkers attacked. Anyway, I think that propels Carl into more comic-like territory and that is that.

I do worry about his character on the show though. I think he has the acting chops to do it, but they severely screwed up the writing for him to progress into the character he is in the comic. It will be a harsh leap, but it can be done.

So was that Glenn in the next episode teaser saying "help" ?

I missed the teaser for the next episode

At the very end episode, when they are riding in the truck don't they get on the walkie trying for Rick.  Something comes through at the end.   Was that the help?

I'll tell you what....if this plot ends up w/ them just driving to and picking up Glenn from underneath a dumpster.....that will be hella lame.

How did anyone not like that episode? The suspense was palpable, the teasing of negan and the saviors, the teasing of Glenn at the end, the delevopment of Abraham and more of how Sasha is dealing with her life after being so close to the brink. This season has been killing it so far. This show gets more hate than any other show on tv I swear.

I actually really enjoyed the episode. I suspected that the guy is Dwight once the subtle hints to the Saviors started being dropped, as they never mentioned his name in the episode. Dwight is rather anti-Negan and anti-Negan-taking-my-wife-to-use-as-he-wishes, so the character definitely fits. Nice to see they have a big end game like the comics did with this arc if they're already setting up backstory with Dwight though. Daryl's "you're gonna be" line as they rode off on his bike will turn more truthful than Dwight realizes, and I only hope Nicotero does the comic Dwight justice by making show Dwight look just as awesome.

The following paragraph contains possible spoilers related to the comics. It's all just my thoughts on what I'd like to see, but still. Fair warning (was looking for the spoiler tag, but I don't see it. New update to the forum get rid of it?). Jump past the following paragraph to avoid spoilers.

I'm thinking next week, they set up the introduction of Jesus for the mid-season finale. I think the whole episode is the back and forth of Rick and Morgan, with Daryl showing up at the end to learn of Glenn being out there. Midseason finale is all Glenn and Jesus centric. They go out looking for Glenn, when they run into Jesus, who has already found Glenn and has him holed up in a nearby store or something. Back half of the episode is Jesus being brought back to Alexandria, group deciding what to do, then the walkers break in, a lot die, and Jesus helps save the day. Jesus then tells them about Hilltop as the midseason cliffhanger.

That's my theory anyway. Would make me happy if they did it that way. If they don't do it somewhat like that at least, then I'd prefer they just call Glenn dead and move forward. Any other way to bring Glenn back would be too stupid to stomach.

Also, quick aside. If that IS Dwight, then in the comic he wears a vest VERY much like Daryl's. He also has a crossbow.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE, Dwight somehow comes about owning Daryl's crossbow and vest.

if that is the case...I can only see ONE situation where that would happen...and it isn't good news for Daryl fans. But it would make this past episode's exchange that much more meaningful, since Dwight not only has his crossbow, but now has his bike. Only thing missing is the vest and a particular...feature that will make Dwight truly recognizable to comic fans.

Dwight already has Daryl's crossbow...

FWIW, I liked this episode, aside from the Abraham/Sasha arc...

Those are definitely the Saviors... If you read the comics, you might remember that when Negan returns to the Sanctuary, the people kneel down... Dwight said something about kneeling on the show...

I think it was Glenn on the radio.

I think we see a scene back-and-forth episode between the Alexandrian crew and  Daryl, Abraham, Sasha. We'll also see Jesus for the first time next episode (and have some resolution with Glenn?,) and the finale will be the breaching of the Alexandrian walls by the horde.

I can't speak for the comics, but while I enjoyed the episode on a general level, my biggest problem is that ultimately nothing happened.  Daryl meet some new people, lost his stuff, but is still generally OK.  Sasha & Abraham had a moment, which I wonder if that will lead to some girl fighting/broken relationships?  I want something about Glenn though.  It's getting a little old.  I mean, I enjoy seeing the same day from multiple perspectives, but I'm good on those.

Now for the future, I don't think Dwight and his girl are going to survive long.  I mean, they got his bike and his crossbow, but they are idiots.  The whole thing with the zombies boys and the diabetic girl were flimsy.  There was just so little explaining for me to care.  Rather, the group that was looking for them is pretty interesting. That should be good fireworks when they meet the Alexandrians.

It was a good episode, but it just felt really disconnected.  From the guys who shot up Sasha, Abraham and Daryl, the needy folks, the new group without faces, Abraham's weird epiphany thing...there was just so much done that didn't explain anything, but rather just raise more questions.  I'm looking forward to the pay off as the season winds down.

This past weeks episode was alright. It's setting up Neegan, the Saviors and the all out war arc from the comics. That was Glenn on the radio at the end of the episode. Jesus saving Glenn would be a good way to introduce him to the show. He's an important character in the comics. I just hope they don't screw him up like they did Tyrese.

    • Super raw, not sure he is worth a top 10 pick.  Primary a pass rusher.  A bit like Burns, very fast athletic but doesnt always follow the play.  His highlights look good but when you watch him play you can see he is just raw and needs to develop
    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
