Josh Norman fined for his celebration

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

It can be argued he didn't even really use the ball as a prop.  The "dance" is the same with or without the ball there.  It could be viewed that he just didn't drop the ball, but did the same horse riding motion that has been done before without the ball.

Ehh maybe but I don't think so. It was pretty clear to me he was 'riding the ball.'

Once again it is impossible to comment on the Huddle without some moron making a stupid remark that lends nothing to the thread.  Football is a team sport.  Norman needs to stop hurting the team with his taunting and celebration penalties.

you're one of the wine and cheese fans that makes us look bad. Cam celebrates first downs, every defensive player celebrates a sack, guys do flips and stuff into the endzone for no reason. None of those celebrations are flagged. Norman is hurting the team really? He's only giving us 6 points on defense. Oh gosh that's hurting us so bad. Rivera should put him back in his dog house. Gee wiz guiz

It's the same amount that the NFL fined Odell Beckham for punching a Bills player during a play last week. Welcome to the NFL where using the ball as a prop is just as bad as punching someone. Seems legit.

And since both offenses are treated equally, I'd almost like to see some Panthers players get more bang for their buck.

Read that previous sentence twice before piping up.

moron huh?

id match wits anytime sweet cheeks.

Oh, and once again some super tight nitwit has to crawl out of his hole to make sure everyone knows how far superior they are than the knuckle dragging Neanderthals celebrating a play.

You'd lose...badly.

The sad part...you opted for humor in what was probably a sad attempt to get pie rather than get the point that I made.  I love Norman...his ball skills, the way he plays the run, his attitude...heck, just about everything.  But he still acts like a rookie sometimes with his personal actions.  Thomas Davis has been seen coming down on Normal hard multiple times this season and last.  Why?  Because Norman still makes boneheaded decisions at the expense of the rest of the team.  This fine was to prove a point, since flags obviously have no impact on him.

I swear some of you guys need someone to follow you around all day to interpret things for you.  I am anything but a wine and cheese fan.  I despise those fans....of course I don't need to defend myself to you.

Norman is a great player...who has made several game changing plays for this team.  But he needs to stop with the immature antics that can hurt the team.  Is that to much to ask of a professional athlete?  Celebrate all you want...I'm all for it.  But don't do something that results in a pointless penalty.  As I said earlier in this thread...I think the NFL has gone way too far limiting touchdown celebrations.  They have taken the fun out of things.  But rules are rules..and if it gonna result in a flag being thrown, than for goodness sake (and for the teams sake) don't do it.

how long before fines for holding?

i can see fines for bad hits, but crap like this? yeeeeaaahhhhh....excessive.

I was watching football back in the days of Billy White Shoes Johnson.

That should give you a pretty good idea how I feel about the 'No Fun League'.

It really is sad.  Celebrations such as Smitty's (row boat, wiping baby's butt, etc) made the game better, not worse.  Trash talking and in your face celebrations are just part of football, and any competitive sport.  Pretty soon only whispers and golf claps will be allowed.

well let's just spell it out then shall we?

Mr. Norman, you know all that fire passion and edge you use while playing a game for a living? Yeah make sure that when you use those things in a spectacular showing of your athletic skill and instinctual prowess, do NOT outwardly show those things in what must be an unimaginable burst of euphoria as you excel on the highest stage.

To do so is a direct and unacceptable reflection of your mental ineptitude and emotional immaturity that will only alienate the highbrow fan and thus cause him to whine on a message board.

This is the sad part, you could take any old Smitty thread and find A few self proclaimed geniuses that make your same, tired, worn out "points".

If he just drops the ball and does the celebration without the ball we are all good...and no threads about this nonsense. Josh just drop the ball and we won't have all these useless posts about your immaturity. Josh. Josh. I'm talking to you. Drop. The. Ball. And bad threads will end. For the love of God. Josh.

I guess we can continue this conversation when the time comes that Norman's antics cost the team dearly.  I hope that time never comes...but we have been lucky thus far that opposing teams have not run back a TD for a score on a kickoff that falls short due to us kicking from the 20 instead of the 35, as we have had to do on at least 2 occasions this season thanks to Mr. Norman.  There were already times last season where his unsportsmanlike conduct penalties kept drives alive for opposing teams.
