I just wonder if we aren't trying to force Bene into the nickel role because that's how the coaches view him when maybe he's simply more comfortable playing outside.  He looked a lot better on the outside last season.

I said that all offseason but all anyone wanted to talk about was mobing him inside to play nickle. hes better on the outside

Mathieu plays a lot of nickel corner. He's a joker on that defense. Plays basically the same way he did at LSU. He's everywhere.

Yea, I knew he was a CB at LSU.  Thought he was changed to S in Arizona though.  Oh well, he's a good player.  At Nickle CB I can see him being like Munnerlyn.

edit: I looked it up, he is a FS. misleading list is misleading.

He basically said as much in an interview somewhere. He was talking about the tips Peanut was giving but that they applied to being on the outside and he was playing inside so...

He sounded a little disappointed.

I wasn't saying he was a corner. His official spot is FS. But he plays a ton of nickel for the Cardinals. I would assume he makes the list because of the amount of times he covers the slot receiver. He does a little bit of everything on that defense. He's hardly ever in a traditional FS role.

Bene hasn't been awful but he has missed some tackles and was obviously in Rivera's doghouse some the last game.

He does have a lot of responsibility and he has been very good for a 2nd year 5th round draft pick.

Our secondary overall has been pretty good and obviously Norman is playing at an All Pro level.

If Bene can play like he did down the stretch last year we could have arguably the best CBs in the league.

If Cole man had someone special beside him instead of the Harper/Tre platoon we could be on par with Seattle'so secondary.  We already have arguably a better front 7 when healthy

Captain Da Gawd :D

I have a feeling he will be back with us in a couple of years. Carolina has a thing about letting players go off and get their big paycheck (Muhammad, Ginn) and then bringing them back later at reasonable fees. We turn them into stars, let someone else fork over that life changing check, then bring them back as veteran players to raise the next set of stars.

It's really quite genius.
