Luke still has not passed the concussion protocol, Cotch in full pads and helmet

Up until now I haven't been too concerned about this until I remembered the Sidney Crosby situation. Granted, he took 2 hits to the head within a few days of each other but he ended up missing about 11 months.

Crosby had a neck injury to go along with it that was causing him to have some post-concussion-like syndromes. If they had caught it earlier he might have not missed so much time, but it took them so long to realize it the neck had kind of healed itself already.

According to Rivera the docs have ruled out a neck injury. I don't think we need to worry about it.

The thread title is extremely misleading.  Luke may not even have seen the independent doctor yet this week.  So to say he still hasn't passed the concussion protocol is assuming he has even been tested which no one has reported.

I thought the IN was waiting in the Parking lot every day and tested Luke upon his arrival at practice.

I'm having a really hard time understanding why are you telling me things I already know. Let me break this down in bullet points for you if that helps?

  • I have had a concussion before, I understand that every conussion is different and that a linebacker especially needs to be cautious with returning too soon.
  • I want Luke back on the field, but if he is not 100% good to go, please by all means sit him for the year.
  • My whole point is that after Luke went from hitting sleds two weeks ago, to not even stepping onto the field, to Ron not even knowing how many times he's seen the independent, to him back hitting sleds this week, I would not be surprised OR ANGRY if he is out for several more weeks or even the rest of the season.
  • I do not like how this team handles injuries or how they update them. Anyone who has paid attention to our injury reports in the Ron Rivera knows that some shady stuff has gone down.
  • And so, for all of the users that said I was overreacting or that I was an idiot for thinking they could be hiding something about Luke not being back anytime soon, I will bump my thread to simply point out that it was not an overreaction but rather something I picked up on before most people.

Why do you think you're entitled to information on every step of a stranger's injury and recovery process?

You didn't go through the protocol did you?

You are just the cutest thing. Completely oblivious to everything.

Like I said in your other thread. Major concussions can take weeks to months to recover from. I even said the Panthers should consider IR him instead of rising further damage. Concussions are never a sure thing so they are playing it week to week. There is nothing more that can be disclosed. So if you can take your head out of your ass for 5 minutes and read that you will be better off. You operate under the assumption that everyone but you thinks that Luke will be back before we know it. Anyone who knows anything about concussion knows this isn't the case.

So take a seat fam and enjoy the ride. It might be a while before we see Luke and most of us are okay with that.

whats the longest time frame a players been held out due to concussion protocol?

  • I don't need every step. I want concrete reports. This is getting crazy, one week he's hitting sleds and meeting with the independent doctor, the next he doesnt step on the field and coach doesn't know if he has met the doctor, next week hes hitting sleds and still hasn't met the doctor, but coach says the doctor did not clear him. For fugs-sake just say "Luke's concussion is more severe than we thought and he could be out several weeks". BAM, DONE.
  • He isn't a stranger, he is a player on a professional team that I pay to watch, so I expect a professional, concrete report on what is going on and what to expect. I'm not walking into a hospital asking the clerk at the front desk to give me results on a random patients examination. Its not the same thing.

No, he is a stranger to you. Just because you pay to watch the Panthers play doesn't make the players some commodity that you're entitled to personal information about. You really have a terrible attitude if that's how you really feel.

hahahaha I knew somebody would take it that way.

Okay so for the third time, let me explain what I mean. Idk maybe my other posts aren't showing up on your screen or something?

I want Luke out there more than anyone. I also want Luke to only be out there if he is 100% ready to go. That being said, with the way that the team has handeled this, I would not be SUPRISED if Luke missed several more games or even the rest of the season. When this happens, I will bump my thread in which I was flamed for "overreacting" when I smelled something fishy about this in week 3. I pray that this is not the case, but I will definitely remind all of the people saying I was overreacting or being an idiot for showing concern.

Thats nice and all. But thats not the vibe youre giving off . I can say one thing, but show something completely different.

Just curious. You keep talking about all this "fishy" and "shady stuff.

What do you propose happened?

Regardless of what happened theyre gonna leave him off till he's ready.

If anything this helps because other teams have to prepare for luke cuz they dont know if he's playing or not. Being secretive is the best way to go about this.

There's nothing to be wrong about.

I want Luke out there more than anyone, but with the way this is being handeled, I would not be surprised to see him sit for several more games. I'm going to bump my thread when this happens because all of the users saying I was overreacting will start freaking out.

You sound happier than a freshman girl who got her first choice for sorority over this.

I'd rather have Luke come back and have people say "I told you so", than him be done for the season and me have to say "I told you so".

Lol I can't wait to bump my thread when Luke is still hitting sleds without a helmet after missing the Seattle game.

Hmmmmm...
