Why the Carolina Panthers are Super Bowl contenders (David Newton)

Reason to be excited: As mentioned above, the defense has played well without its quarterback. The players who have stepped up while Kuechly has been out have gotten better. Josh Norman has emerged as one of the elite cornerbacks in the league. He was the NFC’s defensive player of the month in September, and he started October off with a pair of interceptions -- one returned for a touchdown. He can shut down the opponent’s top receiver; he did it twice last season against Atlanta’s Julio Jones. The Falcons also are 4-0 and will be a factor for the Panthers in the NFC South. But remember, Rivera’s first four teams have played their best down the stretch. Carolina’s record over the last six games since 2011 is a combined 18-6.

Be nice guys, you know he's waiting for someone to post it here, so that he can read the comments.

Be sure to make him feel really welcome!

Hey David, one feel good story doesn't make up for your general inadequacies as a reporter in general. In fact, keep writing shitty articles about us. We like those better

and David, meet my friends, the Huddle is tight, and once u piss us off, you're pretty much done. Just ask your boy Peter King

P.S. I started that last sentence with the word and on purpose. Grammatically speaking, It's basically on par with your overall football knowledge.

Man, im just so torn, I absolutely think we are playoff contenders but I dont think we are quite at SB contenders yet, but we are SO close its not even funny.. We just arent quite at the level yet of complete dominance, we dont quite have that dominating X factor that true SB contenders have.. I watch teams like the Packers and Patriots and even the Broncos play and they are just so dominant that it's inconceivable how good they are and how easy they make it look.

Now what do all those teams have in common?! Franchise QBs that have been in the league a VERY long time. I think it will be a couple more seasons or so until we are at Pats/Packers level of just being so good that frankly when you hear people pick us as SB favorites we as fans say "so what else is new?"

David Newton lost all relevancy when he screwed up LDE and RDE for Charles Johnson and saying CJ was moving to RDE to play against the less athletic Right Tackles on the O-Lines.

Still haven't seen an explanation for that one, Dave.
