The Devin Funchess "drop"

The real discussion here is Funchess beat a jam off the LOS, broke his route correctly to the inside (setup on the right hash this was likely an option route for either the slant or a fade)  gained inside leverage and beat the safety help.  He will catch plenty of these, I like the fact he beat the coverage and he and Cam were on the same page.

None of that matters without the reception, hence the label wide RECEIVER.

Man I know it's only 4 games in but dude is really a project. We were absoultely spoiled by KB, KB is a freak of nature.

Yep, last year's WR class really was a fluke.  This year's is more of back to the norm.  I would say we reached on Funchess, but I don't think any WR drafted after him is doing much either.

Sure it matters, for the physics of receiving a pass to even have a chance the wide receiver and ball must meet in relatively the same location.  I don't know about you but I've seen plenty of passes thrown to empty spaces where receivers should have been but the QB and WR weren't on the same page.  I've seen plenty of receivers not even have a pass thrown their way because they couldn't beat the coverage.  Those skills and knowledge are all components of the catch process.  No receiver in the NFL catches every pass thrown his way, and that's not surprising.  There are plenty who fail long before the pass is ever thrown and they definitely catch less.  Maybe I'm an optimist.

The only way it wouldn't matter was if it was the only opportunity Funchess was ever going to get.  I'd like to think that him being able to get open and be where he should might make a difference the next time he's thrown to.

it was a quick drop. If Cam starts playing the eyes game then the play is ruined. Additionally, Cam had already brought his arm back to throw the ball before Dickson came away from his man.

Your comment was "Technically if Cam had dropped and tried to go to Dickson then Conte would've broke that direction. Still images can be really deceiving"

If Cam had dropped and tried to go to Dickson there is no way in hell that Conte breaks that TD up to Dickson.  Not a Chance.

He didn't so we'll never really know but the way Conti is moving.  Not a chance

I also think this coaching staff hyped us up concerning him.  It seems they had no idea how not ready he was to play immediately.

Don't forget, Funchess is playing in a Mike Shula offense; the offense throwing bubble screens to Bersin and flea flickers to Jericho Cotchery.

Good players will shine in any scheme. Benjamin was great last year and Olsen is there when we need him.

Funchess is not reliable neither is Corey Brown. Bersin has very limited upside but he at least catches the ball lately.

i dont think you understand what's being said.

You said that the picture is deceiving that Conti would make a play if the ball is thrown to Dickson.  I said there is NO WAY IN any game Conti plays where he makes a play in the position he is in at the time that picture is taken.  NO way.  He is moving away from the direction of Dickson and if Cam were to pull it back and throw to Dickson, Conti would never EVER recover in time to make the play.

I know exactly what was said and know exactly what I am saying.

Just for fun....what is it I am missing that you think I don't understand.
