Booted Ryan Delaire Haunts Bucs

October 4th, 2015

A defensive end who spent all offseason and training camp with the Bucs sacked Jameis Winston twice today.

Ryan Delaire, a defensive end who spent all offseason and training camp with the Bucs, sacked Jameis Winston twice today.

Over and over again in Buccaneers training camp, No. 75 would flash against second- and third-teamers.

Today, he flashed over and over against the Bucs.

Joe’s talking about undrafted rookie defensive end Ryan Delaire. Joe begged Lovie Smithto turn this kid loose in meaningful preseason action to see what would happen.

Lovie preferred to get a deeper look at Larry English, and Delaire was cut before opening day. This week, the Panthers snatched him off the Redskins’ practice squad and turned him loose against the Bucs in his NFL debut.

Delaire had two sacks, five solo tackles and displayed the nasty streak you could see in him on the fields of One Buc Palace.

For those sacks, he torched Bucs right tackle Gosder Cherilus inside, and later moved over and shook Donovan Smith.

As aching for defensive end talent as the Bucs have been, it’s painful to think they let Delaire go for no good reason.

Josh Norman has been our best player on defense, so...

Yeah and he is a great player as well, and I hate that he keeps getting penalties too.  I would love to keep him but I feel he'll be too expensive past a potential franchise tag.  I was just pointing out that the hit that Delaire made was intentional and could have caused a concussion or worse and I don't want to have a player on our team like Burfict from the Bengals and have a stigma about our team.
