Hats off to the refs

They called a great game today. Most crews want to take over the game and get flag happy in order to get more face time on camera. These guys were actually calling a good game and not calling any ticky tack bs. Minus 1 or 2 bad spots, they were great. I wish they could officiate all of our games.

what was up with that 4th down spot they gave winston? i didn't catch the replay, but at first glance it looked like he stepped out a good 3 yards before the first down marker.

Ron challenged, he ended up keeping that foot in bounds and made the first down.

Not only that, but if you look where the official on the sideline spotted the ball compared to where the referee "matched" it on the hash mark, they aren't even the same spot.  On the sideline the tip of the front of the ball is at the middle of the yard line, whereas at the hash mark, the ref spots the tip of the back of the ball there.  Seriously, go watch that if you still have it DVRed and tell me that's not the case.  I can take bad spots because of missing the play, but I don't understand not matching the spot on the sideline and hash mark.

I did notice that and pointed it out to my wife that they had the balls at different  locations on the yard markers. Oh, well.

lol not sure if serious...don't confuse not being a disaster with being good.

We had to waste a challenge to get a TD that was clear as day and had a flag picked up...when is the last time the Panthers had a flag picked up when a flag was thrown against them? I've seen it done against the Panthers a couple of times but never for them.

Also our DL is obviously never going to get holding calls for whatever reason but they were tackling our DEs again for the 4th straight game.

I mean yea they didn't get flag happy but this crew had also thrown the most flags and had the worst grade coming into the game...it could just as easily have been them not wanting to extend the game due to the weather...refs don't want to be out there in that poo and you honestly have to wonder how much the rain affects the vision of the ref to see a penalty even happen.(like players have said in snowy or foggy games they try to get away with murder if they can because it's harder to see holds and stuff in weather games)

It was relatively balanced today, they did do a good job.  I actually think it may have been tipped slightly in our favor (late hit on the new guy, and another one I can't remember off the top of my head that I confessed at the time to my Bucs fan buddy was a bad no call), but overall by far the best refereeing job for us of the season.

But it could win us another MNF game...

Pats deserve it no matter what plus lester was in front of Gronk no matter what...that play would have been a pick regardless of anything...even remove Luke from the play entirely and its a pick.

But yea I'll take as many as we can get since it hardly ever happens...we are the team that perpetually gets screwed over by the refs but yea I forgot they actually threw a flag on the play I mis remembered that they were saying a flag SHOULD have been called but yea they threw it and it was good that the refs let the players decide the outcome of the game instead of a flag.

FWIW I don't think it was a penalty against Tampa on Brown but contact is supposed to happen AFTER the ball hits the WR not simultaneously...so if it was letter of the law type of thing or if it was a crew that stuck to their guns you know you've seen that called and witheld...but yea I think those types of penalties if upheld are bad for the game...but homer gonna homer and I feel we are owed as much as we can get based off past screw jobs.

Did you watch any games last year?  We benefited from a flag being picked up more than any team I have ever seen in my entire life.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
