Bersin four catches for 54 yds

So most people agree that Bersin is reliable, runs good routes, catches pretty much anything thrown to him, and has Cam's trust...but isn't too flashy and is limited in YAC. If I left his name off of that description, you'd think I was talking about Greg Olsen who is unanimously lauded as a beast on here, and rightfully so. Maybe Bersin doesn't do all those things quite to Olsen's level, but the fact that there's so much disdain for Bersin and so much love for Olsen when they're almost carbon copies of one another is crazy. And not because they're both white...

Yes they play different positions, but I'm looking at them strictly as pass-catchers....although Bersin's blocking is respectable as well.

Nope. Bersin and Olsen are completely different on everything except for complexion and hair color. Apples and oranges. Olsen is a bonafide first rate star player. He makes all of the tough catches, busts through for yards after catch, blocks, helps in the running game, and can destroy a zone defense. He makes good and great defenders look bad a number of times each game.

Bersin can run a route, get to his spot on the field and catch the ball just like it is drawn up in the playbook. He gets tackled and holds onto the ball. He's not blasting past DBs, he's not faking anyone out of their jock straps. He is where you want him to be when you need him there and he gets the reception. He's a possession receiver and he's becoming a fine example of that very important role. But he isn't Olsen and he isn't really that close. He can be pretty good, but Olsen is on track to become great with a much more complex job.
