Was thinking about doing another NFL game day thread but probably not anymore...

If the Ravens go 0-4 or 0-5 ... I mean ... why NOT get Smith

I personally agree. The Ravens would definitely take a 6th or 7th for him and if they had no playoff hope they have enough respect for him to consider trading him if he wants, and if we're like 5-0 or 4-1 and have Super Bowl hopes for this season I don't see any reason not to give up a late rounder to get him back for a Super Bowl run with KB out. Big reasons we cut him were because he would hinder KB's development, and if we didn't cut him it would've picked up an option which would be paying him over $10M/year this year and next I believe. Right now his deal is completely reasonable and we obviously have a need for WR and with him retiring after this year and KB out it wouldn't really affect him at all. Would be worth a late rounder even for a 1 year rental if we truly believe we have a chance at winning it all. I'd give it a .01% chance of happening but it would be a good move.

Because even if you ignored all the alleged team chemistry issues, you're giving up future capital for a guy who has made it known this is his last year.

Same reason no one (not even the Chiefs) "rescued" Tony Gonzalez and he went out on a 4-12 Falcons team.

Also, to help with Data's lament about the lack of traction in the general game threads, perhaps it would be better if we had a stickied thread for general games with no Panthers implications like this one and leave the individual game threads for more important ones.

Looking like Ravens 0-4 ... I am hoping, because the Ravens WILL trade Smith if they lose tonight

I don't think they'll consider trading him until near the deadline and if they have any chance at the playoffs then they won't do it. He's literally their best offensive player, atleast until Perriman is back and will probably still be even with him healthy.
