A little contrast...

From what I've been snooping on the internet the Saints coaching staff is really beating up on the players for every little tiny mistake they make on the field. However Brees, and a few other players, are being coddled and not picked apart. This is leading to many players feeling resentment toward the coaching staff. Payton's justification is that the Saints have a low margin of error due to the talent level of the team. The locker room is full of unhappy and resentful players, with the exception of Brees and a few others. I knew this would be the year the Saints finally imploded. Brees is in the twilight of his career, and that means below average Saints teams until they find a new QB.

Basically what Galette said. Seems as if the coaching staff has really lost the players.

Disappointing, to say the least. Really makes me wonder how bad things have gotten in the locker room and if Payton has lost this team.

I feel like I've watched Rome burn since 2012. Oh well. All I can do now is hope.

Honest question: What's your tab on the Saints fanbase right now?

That's plausible.

Plus I saw yesterday that made a CAP move with Brees by converting some of his salary to a bonus or something. Bottom line was his cap hit for next year is $30M.

Rome is indeed burning. Payton=Nero

Yikes!

They made that move to be able to trade Akiem Hicks to the Patriots for TE Hoomanawooheesomething. Perhaps Nicks was getting tired of the coaches also? Heard he did get benched in week 2 vs. Bucs

What do you mean? Not trying to be a dick, just don't understand the question lol.

Well: I've seen Saints fans (I think it was on Reddit) who thought the Saints would easily win the division, make the playoffs, etc.

Even SR (homer central) is pretty negative right now. Most of my friends know we suck. I think we're all planning on having a top 5 pick. Before the season, I think a lot of Saints fans got excited. I wasn't one of those.

It's clear that they are converting into a more balanced team, and planning for the post Breesus era.  While it's clearly a good idea, that can't be done in one offseason.  What comes of this will show us if the Taints were just a flash in the pan, or if the FO can actually run a decent NFL program.
