what are the panthers hiding from us about luke

Recommended Posts

I've already got bashed for saying this but I'm starting to get the feeling that Luke got some kind of news from the doctor along the lines of how close he came to being paralyzed or knocked in a comma and Luke has a huge decision to make..

I would be crushed if this happened but we are seeing young players and veteran pro bowlers retiring early because of the concussion stuff..

Am I officially going on the record and predicting he's going to announce retirement?! Of course not, I will say though that I would not be completely shocked if it did end up happening, absloutley devastated but not suprised.

I'm hearing from my sources that, much in the way Hardy became the poster boy for domestic violence, the league intends to use Luke's case as an example of how tough they are regarding concussions.

Everything is on the table up to and including forced retirement. Jerry R. must have really pissed someone off.

All bullshitting aside, has anyone from the press straight up asked RR if Luke suffered any other injuries besides concussion?

If you watch the presser on the 24th Ron is asked if there was anything involving the spine and he says no.  So they are either flat out lying or we are overreacting.

It is not a coincidence that our bye week is next week and Luke hasn't been cleared.

It was probably stated that unless his Neuro Eval came back perfect, he would rest.  As a neuropsychologist, I am very familiar with this evaluation and the timetable.  Given the severity of his injury, it is no suprise he isn't fully functioning cognitively yet.

so as one of the few of us on here who is actually qualified. What's your guess in regard to his return date?

Do you think the injury is more concussion related or anything else that could cause trouble that the eye does not see?  His form even before the tackle was way off, from the body language something was wrong.  I don't have extensive knowledge in body functions but my eyeball test screamed something was wrong as soon as the play he was injured snapped.  Even before the snap, it looked like he wanted to get off the field.  I don't know medical but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express.

4-6 weeks post.  Depending on severity.  Luckily there was no torque.  Only coup/countercoup.  Torque leads to axonal shearing.  This is far less likely with a head on injury.

The real concern is that the blow was to the top of the head, sending the brain down into the sphenoid and ethnoid bones. They are extremely sharp ridges that line the floor of the skull and often cause microbleeds.
