Film Room: Cam Newton

I know the huddle dawgs Matt Ryan, but he belongs on this list. As well as a healthy Bree's and Romo.

I just put more value into Cam because he's the first mobile rushing QB that has learned to excel in the pocket. Blessings in disguise have come from him having to make quicker decisions because of poor protection during his tenure here and our team has benefitted from him over-coming that and his criticisms since he came into the league.

Stories I remember hearing was that Haley and Ben were not getting along. Bern was uncomfortable and basically lot's of problems in that first year. And then everything clicked and a guy named Antonio Brown literally exploded onto the scene. I'm sure there were other factors too but I'm not a Steelers fan so I don't know. But I do remember the thought being that it was a rocky transition...until it wasn't.

Ben and  Rivers are near impossible to bring down when the pocket collapses as theit footwork is truly an unteachable skill.

I admit to being a bit critical of Cams passes.  I know it's basically overreacting on my part..  I have erased all doubt.  I'm fully aware of the significant progress he has made and unique circumstances of his offense he's had to endure.  He's grown on the field and thats all I've ever wanted.  He needs to be in the same conversation as Rodgers and Manning etc.  Increasing the quality of players around him like gman has been doing, it's very likely he will be talked about as the GOAT.

He's got this.

Am I the only one who takes issue with the author stating that Kelvin Benjamin is not a great WR? How much better should he have been as a rookie to be considered great?

To many dropped passes to considered great.

Remember this is a "this is what the tape shows"-website, so every player are judged the same and there is no "great for a rookie/potential" bonus points.

Cam has been money for the last 2 1/2 years when he has had protection. And while the O-line may still have it's weaknesses, it is giving him better protection since mid-2014.

It has just taken a bit longer for outsiders to see what we have known from the beginning. Cam is the real deal in talent, in preparation, and yes, in leadership/attitude as well.

He hit 1,000 yards as a rookie because he had the most targets in the NFL last year. He dropped a lot of easy catches as a rookie......a whole lot. He still has a pretty long way to go before I'd consider him a dependable #1 WR. It'd be great to have him this year, though. Like last year, Cam's #1 and #2 receiving options would be lucky to be 4s or 5s on most rosters.

And Oher is far from being the answer at LT. In other words, i totally agree with the guy that wrote this article.

The OBJ hype, has made all excellent first year WR's of that class (such as Kelvin) no be labelled great.

Now, as many says; maybe his drops (and lack of actually watching by most national media) makes him not great. However, he certainly has the size, potential, and nastiness to be.
