Random but we worked out three punters today

People keep saying "due diligence" and that is correct.

But I'm not so sure people understand what that means.  So I'll explain it to you before Mr. Scot comes along lol.

"Due diligence" means working out players for reasons of finding talent to bring onto your team NOW and potential talent to bring onto your team LATER.  It also means working out players to build a list that you can use in case of injury, especially at positions like punter and kicker where only a SINGLE player is on the roster.

So (god forbid) Nortman gets blind-side blocked on a punt return and it cracks a cervical vertebrae?  Out for the year?  Well, the responsible GM like Gettleman has done his DUE DILIGENCE and he has the phone numbers of players he's previously worked out and can call one of them immediately to come in and replace a guy on IR.

"Due diligence"? That's what it means.

On the punt returned for a td, he kicked away from his coverage. This in part was responsible for the breakdown in coverage.

Rivera mentioned that punt return on his radio interview on Sitius XM today. Blamed the return on the punter kicking it too far. Said the returner had 13 yards to make the first guy miss. Maybe they are looking for someone who is better at controlling the ball with less leg strength.

He also mentioned that you are pretty much allowed to double the gunners and there are no holding calls on them.

A 40 yard high kick with a fair catch might be better than a 60 yard boomer with our coverage history the past few years.
