Bears looking to trade Alshon???

So now it's up to two players that make a whole roster.

I guess if we go through this argument 51 more times, maybe you'll get somewhere.

Well to be fair, Charles Johnson, Thomas Davis, Greg Olsen, Jonathan Stewart, Josh Norman, Ryan Kalil, Steve Smith, Greg Hardy, and Jordan Gross all have helped at various points as well. With that being said, while Gettleman may have had talent around him when he stepped in, but he was placed in charge of a team in "cap hell". He picked up guys who performed well and were key contributors to playoffs teams for dirt cheap. Not to mention his incredible 2014 draft.

To be clear, I've never denied we had good players. As mentioned, all teams do. Even the bad ones.

It's the "best situation in NFL history" quote that I find utterly ridiculous.

all 3 of you guys suck right now. who gives a poo. Gettleman is the GM now and doing the best he can, what he walked into is moot.  Its what he does with it and the opportunities he has that count.  Now can you guys give a rest so the rest of us can go back to enjoying the probowl DE signing and let the thoughts of superbowl return to our minds? kthx

Tried to find you at the tailgate, kept missing you. Saw you in the distance a few times.

Care to share some general managers that stepped into a better position player wise than Gettleman? Not Gms that retired and someone they groomed took over. Actual new hires after a guy was fired

Easy. John Butler.

Butler took over for Bill Polian after he was fired from the Bills.

He had Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas, Darryl Talley and numerous other players left over from prior Super Bowl teams at his disposal.

Would you like to put our roster above that one?

Cam needs young receivers that he can grow with. A dynamic duo for years to come. Jeffery would help us out THIS year, and next year when Kelvin comes back? Could be really special.

....i'm just praying KB comes back and that damn knee doesnt become a chronic problem...i mean didnt he blow it out on a sharp cut?

Bravo, I'm actually impressed that you came up with a legitimate response.

But to be fair he was already on that staff

Butler's not the only guy to come in to a team that was winning, but not winning enough for the owner's satisfaction. The same goes for head coaches.

Every GM that comes into a new team has plenty of good to great players available to him. I've yet to see anybody purge an entire roster. And yes, sometimes that includes great quarterbacks too.

Cam and Luke are great, but greatest situation ever? No. And the team overall is vastly improved from where they were. Perfect? No, but I've never seen a team that was.

Good?  Yes. Potentially very good.

I'm happy with that. Not sure why anyone wouldn't be.

Let's address a couple things here briefly if i may

COLTS: Stop with the comparisons, their wr core has little to do with there 1-2 start, the riff between coach and gm and the fact that andrew luck is playing like kirk cousins is a bigger issue with their o line being number 3 on the list, and if you truly believe cam is better then luck,as most on the board do, if cam and luck switch, places the colts are easily 3-0

Alshon: Look this is bigger then most will think imo, although i have no problem with shula, getting a guy like alshon in shula's offense is moot for the price tag, shula's offesne is about spreading the ball or that is something cam has truly progressed in either the case we saw what that did to smith, fooled most into thinking he was done or washed up in which if you believe this you were as wrong as can be. second a legitimate trade i would be happy about obviously but with the intention to get everyone involved i'm sure it's possible but IF and IF we added Alshon this coaching staff is going to have to have "I'm trying to break the got damn scoreboard" mentality, no more two scores up and sit on the ball bs.

Trade:Pretty sure this is nothing but pure unadulterated speculation, but a legitimate offer from us would be IMO.....

3rd-4th round, and Funchess, look i like funchess but with the bears rebuilding and his age would be a good offer for them i think(speculating obviously), this offer is of course with a contract deal agreed on by alshon and our FO. second i'm sure everyone's worried about the cap, but if our FO and coaches feel this is the missing piece then pull the trigger, I've said from the get go that most playoff teams cap are in the 5-6 mil range. there's ways to make space believe me,but ultimately i don't think it's a current scheme fit but i definitely would like to see our FO kick the tires on a offer, show the fans you are trying to find every possible way to make this team as good as possible, even if it's a PR thing

    • Start with Bryce, this is like his rookie year. The 1st 2 games proved her was wired wrong and it looks like (we hope) he needed a time out to reset and be the player that was drafted. He's still about a year or more away from being a top 15 QB, if the Panther give him another playmaker or 2 (a top WR and a decent TE) and maintain that line. Canales deserves credit as playing that card correctly to motivate (or refocus) his QB for one last shot to decide his and the Panthers immediate future. As a Panther fans we should hope he keeps improving as we invested so much to get him. CJ Stroud will never have a season like he had, even if he stays a top 10 QB. He's got great character so I'm rooting for Bryce to continue on his positive journey. Canales is playing the week to week thing with bryce perfectly. Nothings guaranteed, earn it weekly which builds consistency and consistency is greatness.  Keep the O-line. They've got to extend Brady C, along with Mayes that have a real good 7. Great job Morgan starting with the big guys upfront.  I really hope they draft a DE or OLB in the 1st round. Getting Brown back with A Robinson and what DJ has shown that we can have a decent D-line. Need a CB in the early rounds/ or a time FA to go with Horn.  The future as to next year being good enough to challenge for the division is within reach. Just show progress (win or lose) every week. Kudos to Dan Morgan. Plays GM like a LB. Tackle the problem and move on, don't just hope it works out. Find guys with your playing mentality and work closely with your HC to share a vision. Teamwork starts at the top and flows down.
    • Since we play the Panthers today and tmrw, we will have one gigantic double thread for both games. Today’s game is at 3pm and tmrw is 7pm.    After beating the Rangers and sending the those yankee bastards back to Cary, we get the Champs in the house.  Clean up the defense, no more lazy clears, and score baby score.  LFG CANES!
