Who's beaten who? (Why power rankings are junk)

i agree, right now we're on the same tier imo. Of course, I think we are a better team, but same tier as of right now

agreed, they've been very impressive so far compared to where they were last year.  i definitely think we can beat them twice this year, but i'm impressed with what i've seen from them.  nothing i've seen from us would leave me confident in saying we're definitely better than them.

Atlanta will be hard to catch in the division if they are legit...their schedule is officially ridiculous.  Finishing 3rd last year gave them a big boost for this year getting matched with the 49ers and Vikings. Credit to Atlanta by winning their games, but they were trailing in all 3 in the 4th I believe?  Including teams like the Giants going full on derp mode and blowing the game.

If there were ever a year to go 5-1 or 6-0 in the conference, this may be it. Beat up on the Bucs and Saints, not losing a trap game...and win the head to heads with ATL to ensure our finish.

It's not where the other unbeaten teams are in the rankings that I have any problems with. It's when they do rankings by putting teams like Seattle with a 1-2 record, whose only win is against Chicago the 32nd-ranked team, or Steelers at 2-1, with Rothlisberger out, between us & all the other unbeaten teams that I have problems. As if these 3 wins are simply make-believe and won't be in the WIN column at the end of the season.

If the W-L record is supposed to count for anything, then it should be the top stat to consider. If they think Kam is going to make Seattle that much better, then let the Seahawks prove it first (& they have not); put them where a 1-2 team belongs, not in the top 10. If they truly think Michael Vick can carry the Steelers as Rothlisberger does, let them prove it first before putting them in the top 10. Apparently the Panthers have to prove they are 3-0; they should require proof from all others too.

Atlanta has played below average pass defenses for three games.

Of the opponents played,

2014 average rank:  25th

2015 average rank:  22nd

I just want to see them play an average defense. Right now I just feel like there's a lot of question marks, same as us. Maybe I should have put us in the same tier.

But it's all subjective with power rankings.  I get a lot of nfc east coverage here in NJ. I'm not impressed with the division right now. That's the main reason I dropped Atlanta a tier. A good reason?

Probably not but that's the point of the thread.  Everyone gets worked up over someone's opinion when most likely they're just making stuff up or have very little evidence to back it up. No one even mentioned that I just put the Broncos and Bengals in the same tier because I don't know anything about them.  Why would anyone value the opinion of someone who does that?   Most analysts look at us this way.  Why should we value their opinion at all?
