Panthers Trade for Jared Allen

My personal favorite:

good trade for them. Allen was lost as a 3-4 LB in Chicago. He is moving back to his original DE in a 4-3. After having Pneumonia last year and playing through that he will probably bounce back to really help them. @$850000 and a sixth. must be nice to have a competent GM. Screw the Panthers.

Everyone upset that we didn't do this for our WRs has to remember KB is still on the team. You add him plus next years draft and our WR core looks dominate. We just don't need to add a body for just one year when the guys we do have arnt doing too bad. If our WR started to crash and burn and we were 0-3 then yes they would have to make a move. But as it stands pass rush was glaring weakness that they shored up. Good move by GMan

Benjamin isnt on the team, He's on injured reserve. This move was made to help the Panthers win the Super Bowl THIS season. We are making a move to win now, as we should. We're one of the few good teams in a league that doesnt have many. We should be going all in.

This is doing that, and i approve.

Nope, but you're imagining the part where we're talking about the same position.

Trading for a permanent starter didn't make sense given that Benjamin would be back next season. The situation at DE is far different. Thus, the trade makes more sense.

I realize you dont have the ccapacity to get the subtleties, but hey...

wait scot you think this move is being made for the future?

This is a win/win/win. We get a proven player with a high motor, to pair with two of the best, nastiest interior linemen in the NFL, and a guy that can help light a fire under whoever is playing on the other end. Allen is too old to rebuild a team around, so it's better for the Bears to get some chance at value later rather than marginal value right now. Allen gets to move back to the position he built his career at, and a chance to spend the last few years on a team where he can be one of a group of high level guys, even if he's not still able to be THE guy.

And we probably get to keep the pick if we have to cut him early for underperforming. #Gettlemagic
