So did Carolina...

LDE Alexander

WR1 Benjamin

WR2 Cotchery

RT Williams

Also...

0-3 LOL

It wasn't an excuse as to why we lost bud. It was about the money the Saints didn't have on the field yesterday. Of the 5 starters the Saints were missing, 4 of them are in the top 5 highest paid players on the team. You simply can't account for that.

Loomis deserves a lot of criticism for the shape of this roster and cap, but yesterday was just bad fortune, so it seems.

I agree in saying that injuries happen but, 30 in dead money is where It falls all on Loomis. Thats just crazy high.

I agree. But I also felt like it put us in a good position going forward, once we got past this year. Got a couple of big contracts off the books. Got rid of a few overpaid, underproducing vets. The Galette release really killed this team. We have no pass rush. And it adds $12 million in dead money next year.

I didn't like the Graham trade for a few reasons. I don't think you trade away guys that are among the best at their postions in the league. And we just signed a huge contract. If you didn't have plans to keep him, why sign him to a huge deal and trade him a year later?

The Graham trade and Galette being a dumbass hurt this team short term, because our biggest problems are lack of playmakers on offense and pass rush on defense. The Byrd contract hurts because he's only played 4 games. Can't account for non contact injury though.

geez 12 mill in dead money for one player?! How about Jimmy Graham? Is he going to account for dead money aswell?

No matter how you look at it, the Saints are going to be in bad shape for the next couple of years. They wen't all in and lost.

Yup. He was one year into a $40 million deal. The cut came post June 1st so the majority of the dead money is next year.

Jimmy wont have any dead money next year. His $9 million counted against this years cap.

I was cautiously optimistic about next years cap situation before the Galette release. It basically threw a wrench in everything Loomis had accomplished this offseason. You lose one of the NFLs too pass rushers with nothing in return and have to pay him $12 million just to be gone? That's rough.
