Shula called a better game today than McDermott

Haven't read a single post in this thread but fug the notion that shula even called a good game. The o line pitched a fuging perfect game which allowed Cam to do what he wanted at the line of scrimmage. The success of our offense today had everything to do with Cam's talent and had nothing to do with Shula.

Shula killed it today, except for calling 2 play action plays with 15 seconds left in the half when 0 people thought we might run.

I've said before, and Igo has said before too, that Shula needs every single member of the roster on offense to be an all pro in order to execute his play calls. I think the Saints defense is so bad that that's essentially what we saw today. They are just plain easy to move the ball against so any normally horrible play Shula could dream up worked perfectly.

It really a mixture of things. People trying to make it like its one thing and thats it.

The O-line is way improved which makes a world of difference, especially with the plays Shula likes to call.

Cam himself is much improved.

They are giving Cam more freedom in the offense, running no huddle more and letting Cam make a lot more adjustments, Ex. The pass to Olsen where he brought it in one handed, Cam saw the coverage and audibled at the line to that.

So its really a lot of things.

Shula has called 2 very games the last 2 weeks. Not sure how or why fans would try to degrade that.

The offensive line has been great, Cam has been great, and the play calling has been good.

Has helped mask the fact our receivers are not world beaters.

Was huge bc defense and ST were not good.

But that's what good teams do- when one group struggles, the other unit picks them up.

3-0 is 3-0

Literally no one could dislike Shula more than i do but he called a damn good game today overall....his redzone still sucks donkey balls but that's why Cam audibled and just bootlegged into the endzone instead of having to settle for a FG.

Rivera still couldn't game manage a pee wee game but yea when Rivera/McDermott suck Shula had a good day...I'd like to see a complete game still but 3-0 is 3-0 even with these injuries.

McDermott called a TERRIBLE game. We sat back and watched as Luke McCown of all people tore us up for solid drives down the field.

Heard Josh Norman on the radio as part of an after-game wrap up. He said the defense had prepared & practiced for this game by studying schemes the Saints may run because of not being sure who would be QB. Instead of studying McCown or any player or parts of the Saints offense specifically. That tends to lead to a vanilla defense with holes for a smart QB to attack. Add to that, we couldn't tackle today or pressure the QB & the Saints WR's seemed to have glue on their hands & found all the holes in our zone defense. In the 4th qtr our d-line started to get disruptive & that's when McCown started to have trouble getting the ball out for a catch. I don't know what was different then or why they couldn't do it earlier. I'll have to rewatch the game.
