Cam being Cam

My wife works at the hospital and has never been a fan of cam after witnessing his actions personally in his rookie year.  Always thought he plays up to the camera.  After following this story last night we both have a newfound respect and appreciation of the man.  Think he has matured and is representing very well.  FWIW, smitty is awesome, what he does people don't know about is fantastic.

I don't mean to be rude at all, but I just don't understand where that sort of mindset comes from. Since drafting Newton, one of the main things he has done for this franchise/fan base is give everything he has to make this team competitive, and tried to rid ourselves of the losing mentality that festered here for too long. He gives it his all on every down. Just watch the guy play. His teammates see it, I don't know how fans can't, unless they choose not to.

Look around the NFL at teams who are still searching for that franchise quarterback. You would think the 2010 season alone would give a little perspective to fans, but I guess not. Newton has certainly grown as a player, a teammate, and an individual, but I think it's some of our fans who had to "mature" over these years more than our quarterback.

It's time that the world let go of the maturity shtick.  Cam is a world class athlete but he doesn't do the charitable acts that he does for attention or positive press, he does it because it dawned on him some time ago that he can serve a greater purpose through his football talents and give kids a reason to smile.  I have no doubt that his motives are genuine and that he really cares.  

I think it's time for all the haters still stuck in 2010 to mature.

Prayers for little Elijah as his situation sounds dire.

That's why I love Cam ,  Not because of the size of his arm or how fast his runs are.  But because the size of his heart especially for kids.

Cam may have one of the most negative perceptions in the league, and within our own fanbase... in reality I challenge anyone to find another player who does more in the community.  (TD58 aside)  It's natural, it's genuine, and he spends all of his time doing it.

Cam's resume from this year.

• Graduated with his degree and is using it to help kids
• Visited Charleston after tragedy, on his own
• All of the work over the summer with the youth athletes
• Cam Newton foundation work
• He's signed on with Nickelodeon to make a series directly helping kids
• This... visiting a sick child and bringing an ice cream truck and brownies
• I'm sure I'm missing plenty of things... it could be so much worse

It wasn't long ago that he was accused of gang symbols from an instagram picture... he doesn't flood his IG with his good deeds like Russel Wilson (I suspect that he's phony and it's beginning to come out).  Actions always speak louder than words... we have a first class individual leading our team and some of our fans don't even know it.  I literally had a "fan" tell me last week at the game "I don't like him because he wears a towel on his head" I laughed at him.

The sad thing is, some people let the media shape their opinions about Cam. They don't have the common sense to have a mind of their own.

Not a panther fan as you can tell but Big props to Cam Newton..The time you spent with that young man and his family is something they will always remember... I  may not cheer for you on the field but Im cheering for you for the things you do off the field.
