Our home crowd bad? I don't think Phil Sims ever called us out atleast.

Atleast a few times during the Redskins/Giants game tonight Phil Simms repeatedly mentioned how the home crowd wasn't energetic and even went so far as to say something along the lines of "You know, all this talk by the fans all week about the Giants having to rally and this is a must win game, but the fans sure aren't displaying that energy tonight." 

This wasn't the only time, he mentioned on another occasion how even when the Giants blocked the punt for the safety how he was suprised the fans didn't seem to care and there was still no energy in the crowd at all.

And finally when the Giants scored a TD, he mentioned again how he is suprised the fans really don't seem "into it".

Sheesh, I dont think I have ever heard the broadcast crew take digs at the fans on several occasions during a game.

I mean I've always though our home crowd was good. Better at some games than others but pretty consistent. We don't get the same noise that the seahawks and Chiefs do, but then again we are in an outdoor stadium so that really can take away from some of the noise

you do realize they play outdoors as well, right? Their stadiums are made for noise though. Our crowd is ususually good except for when the Steelers, Cowboys or Packers are in town

And I really don't won't  to be this person. I have been trying to stick up for PU, but there  really there really needs to be a limit on how many threads one person can start. it's not that they are all terrible, but you don't have to start a thread on every thought you have

Panthers are not the only team with a wine and cheese crowd. If you think the tickets are expensive here, try getting one for a prime time game in the most expensive metro area in the country.

A lot of the people who can afford those tickets are not hardcore, rowdy fans. They are the Wall Street types who are "too refined" for such behavior.

It's all indicative of the NFL business model designed to squeeze out every last drop of money it can. It's  certainly good for the NFL's bottom line, but it does price out the fans that are there to root for their team and not just socialize.

True, I remebered cheifs are outdoors, but they have VERY rowdy fans and Seahawks stadium is just designed for sound. We have the outdoors, and like someone else said maybe the expensive ticket prices are keeping less hardcore fans out and more respectable fans in. We don't have anything helping our crowd noise and we still have awesome participation from our fans

Yes this is all valid, I heard about what Simms said. I watched the game but I just didn't catch him saying it at the time. I guess I just don't know where the Panthers crowd noise into all of this. If Simms is saying that fans aren't what they used to be then that's sorta a general statement that every team can take to heart. It's a shame, but probably true.

Simms was just butt mad that his former teams' fans were being unenthusiastic on a nationally televised game. 

Also, BOA is underrated in terms of its capacity to get loud. It has a similar design to Arrowhead in that it is a fully enclosed bowl.  There is nowhere for noise to escape except upwards.  It really just comes down to fan participation, and I admit we leave a lot to be desired in that area.

Our crowd is fine. We get loud enough when it matters.

I love the young guys who come on here and want our stadium to be like a college student section with everyone standing the whole game and jumping up and down. If they are true fans they will be older eventually, still go to the games and will appreciate being able to watch a game without some lunatic blocking your sight lines all day. You can get plenty loud from a sitting position and you don't diminish the enjoyment of others around you. If you really need to stand up the whole game do it from the tunnels. That old guy who told your drunk ass to sit down because you just spilled beer on his wife has probably been going to the games for 20 years. Riot respectfully and lets not turn our stadium into Philly.
