IF... we would have simply 'Cut' peppers.

Or on a serious note Canty or Brenard. The Giants now have the scariest and deepest Dline in the League. And I doubt they make as Pep all put together. This FO IMHO screwed up majorly here. How many cases of the Super Bowl contenders each year letting overpriced aging players walk or trading them for whatever they could get. I guarantee someone in this league offered up a 1st for him, maybe more, and we should have taken it.

And BTW we wouldn't have cut him in the off-season. His contract was up and he was a FA.

possibly however the giants were just sitting on a shitload of cap room they purged during the offseason on "big" name acquisitions.

they had the spending money, we didn't. we wouldn't have had as much as they did if we let Peppers go.

We didn't have the cap because of a Peps $17 mill.

If somebody offered up a 1st for him, it was offered to him and his "agent" and he didn't sign the tender or tell the team about it...sheeeeessshhhhh......Is Sunday here yet?

That it's possible but I'm pretty sure that would be a breach on there part. I would think the agent would be obligated to tell the team about any offer.

Good post. I'd also add we overpaid for Jordan Gross this offseason, yet no one EVER brings that up. Peppers & Gross didnt put a gun to the organizations head and make them give them the money, they did it on their own accord.

And in fact Gross was the Franchise Player last year and played without incident, never once holding the organization in jeopardy by his actions. 2 years ago we tried to make Pep the highest payed defensive player in football and he would not extend.

Essentially Peppers announcing at the end of the season last year that he didn't want to play anymore in Carolina badly weakened our bargaining position both in house with Gross and with other teams shoud we try and trade Pep if he signed his Franchise tag. Unfortunately it was left to his incompetent agent to try and find a trade partner for Pep as we were not allowed to because he wouldn't sign the tender.

Let the grudge go please. Jesus H. Christ. LMAO.

either that or i can let you keep spewing the ridiculous poo that you usually post.

Gross only missed one game despite getting concussed, he's been durable, he can play both sides at tackle, he allowed only 3 sacks the whole season which was among the league's best in his first year at LT, he's the only piece of that line from the SB team that remains, and of course the only person who has a problem with his payday is....KT.

He's an asset to the team

If we had just cut Peppers, people would be bitching that we didn't get anything for him. Everyone quit your bitching and be glad we still have 1 probowler on the DL. Our defense looks bad right now, imagine if he wasn't here.

By signing Gamble and Gross and franchising Peppers we were able to keep 3 veterans with loads of talent on the roster. Strapped for cap room or not, any team would like that luxury.

Live in the now, and support the team.

You are correct sir. You can't please everyone. And who knows I may be wrong and hope I am, this might turn out to be a blockbuster year for pep and our D. But if he is short of the production of a top 1 or 2 DE then IMO keeping him was a mistake.

And BTW we would have gotten something for Pep had he walked. A 3rd round compensatory pick. Not much but something.
