As of Monday afternoon, Luke Kuechly still had not seen the independent neurologist.

 

He can't practice.

People have missed weeks, months, and even IR'd, for concussions before.  I hope it's not that bad, but it's worrisome for sure.

He can't practice. 

I wonder if it's because he would likely be cleared, but they (coaching staff) don't want him to be back yet.  Why else would he not have seen the independent doc yet?  I can't imagine Luke is fine sitting out if he is otherwise good to go.

He has to pass through the in-house concussion protocol before with the team docs before being sent to the independent neurologist so as of Monday he had not returned to the baseline he was at prior to the concussion which means he still had symptoms.

I feel like the team is taking their time with him partly due to his importance to us and also due to the point we are in our schedule/teams we play. Nothing more, nothing less.

I was talking to my Dad about this the other day. We both agree that even if he passed protocol I'd keep him out this week just in case. Klein is doing fine and the Aints* are a joke at the moment. Not worried, Luke is NOT Dan Morgan, he will be fine. He didn't get hurt by getting hit, he got hurt because he lowered his helmet and got a glancing blow off the other player's hip and pushed his entire head and neck down into his torso. An unusual mistake by Luke, he's usually heads-up. He'll be fine.

That was as of Monday afternoon... As far as I know, today is Wednesday.

 

Not saying he has been cleared but that twet doesn't mean anything.

I can't say I agree.  If the team wanted to take their time, they could do that without holding up the protocol, which they wouldn't do in the first place.  If he hasn't seen the independent, it's because he hasn't passed the phase prior.

I keep seeing people say, "it wasn't a hard hit," or "it was a glancing blow."  That's utter BS.  What it looked like, has nothing to do with the injury.  I'm not a NASCAR fan, but when you look at Dale Earnhardt's(Sr.) fatal crash... it didn't look like a fatal accident.  There's a hell of a lot more to it, than what it looked like.

If Brees is out, should Kuechly sit another week just to be safe?  Can't imagine the Saints packing any kind of offensive punch without Brees in the lineup, could be good to rest him up going into a big divisional road game against the resurgent Bucs?
