Three Panthers on PFF's "Team of the Week"

Cary Kollins

Recommended Posts

Each week PFF highlights the top performances at each position throughout the league.

Week two the Panthers have three players making the list, tied for most with the Bengals.

Cornerbacks: Josh Norman, Panthers (+3.1) and Aqib Talib, Broncos (+2.6)

Ryan Mallet kept going after Norman, but he allowed just 40 yards into his coverage on 12 attempts.

Safeties: Kurt Coleman, Panthers (+4.4) and James Ihedigbo, Lions (+4.4)

Coleman is trying to write a story of redemption, and more plays like the one that saw him deflect a potential game-tying pass can’t hurt.

Defensive interior – Ends: Aaron Donald, Rams (+7.9) and Kawann Short, Panthers (+5.9)

Norman is ballin' for that paycheck

KK is a beast, can't wait for Star to come back and then see what kind of pressure KK can get

Coleman is hopefully going to turn out to be a better version of MM

Lovin' the defense right now.

People need to stop comparing Coleman to Mitchell. Their play is not alike at all. They play different positions even. Coleman's already better than Mitchell was here. Only thing I miss is Mitchell's attitude and passion. Got that in Josh though.

Didn't say anything about their style of play being similar.  Simply meant, KC is a quality football player that fits in nicely with what we are trying to do on defense and also a player that just needed the right opportunity with the right squad.  If anything, Kurt's passion is the attribute that I think most closely mirrors Mitchell.  He's a tough dude who gets amped up on game day.

except when it comes to lineman from small colleges and sometimes to "the answer is already on the roster," Gett is never wrong.

well he did only pick one small school lineman and it was injuries that kept us from seeing if he had any talent.

I dont think a GM has to hit in 100% of his selections to be considered good anyways.
