CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers love banging the no respect drum almost as much as they do the “Keep Pounding" drum.

ESPN’s latest NFL Power Rankings will give them more ammunition.

The Panthers are No. 14 despite a 2-0 start and six-game regular-season winning streak dating back to last season.

Four 1-1 teams -- Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Kansas City and San Diego -- rank ahead of them. The Seattle Seahawks, at 0-2, are seven spots ahead of Carolina.

Atlanta (2-0), which has won only 10 games combined the past two seasons, is three spots ahead of the Panthers. The New York Jets (2-0), who haven’t had a winning season since 2010, are five spots ahead of them.

Quarterback Cam Newton’s touchdown flip should have gotten them a few more style points. (See my story from earlier today: (http://espn.go.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/15919/cam-newtons-flip-may-score-a-10-0-with-fans-but-not-with-gymnastic-experts)

Granted, Carolina’s wins have come against No. 31 Jacksonville and No. 25 Houston. And it did move up four spots from Week 1.

But you can almost hear the “no respect" comments coming out of Bank of America Stadium on this cool, overcast day before the team begins practicing for No. 30 New Orleans.

These Power Rankings are completely made by media outlets to generate discussion (clicks) for media outlets.

In other words, they exist for discussion to drive advertising dollars. While you could argue that that's what these message boards do as well...the emotional attachment from fans that goes along with this discussion is pointless. It has no point. It serves to shorten your life because of the self-induced stress.

I'm interested to see what it all looks like after our bye.  Will the Seahawks, Eagles, and Colts continue to suck?  It's not looking too good for any of them thus far.  With the way teams are playing the first two weeks, and taking a look at our schedule, we could have an extremely good record this season.  But, I realize it's very early in the season, and all kinds of craziness can happen.

i hate these "powre ranks" but i will give them clicks and make threads to encourage huddlers to give them clicks too

And I will click on threads that I know are power rankings and then comment on said thread; thus giving it more credibility and encouraging other huddlers to support threads about power rankings.

You can just tell the media will avoid talking about carolina. They will probably talk about how tampa and falcons are the class of the division and how the sanits will bounce  back meanwhile we are and will be undefeated after next week and we're a after thought.

I think we're too high. I'd rather see us in the 20's. Keeps the huddle pissed off and the players with that Carolina Chip on their shoulder.

You guys need to learn the power of negative rewards. I really enjoy not being respected... as long as we get the W's.

guilty...I'm no better than sheep around me aside from a moment of clarity followed by long bouts of confusion (which I refer to as sobriety).
