Panthers PFF Grades - Offense

This week's offensive grades from PFF highlight why their grading system should be taken with a very large grain of salt. One only needs to see Cam Newton with a negative grade to realize they are very subjective and lack context in the grading.

Considering we played a defense that saw Clowney's best game as a pro, ILB Cushing return to his pre-injury form, S Rahim Moore and OLB Mercilus also being graded in Houston's top 5, all time great NT and toilet clogger extraordinaire Vince Wilfork, and JJ Watt, the only defensive player in the league better than Luke (dammit!), I'm glad we were able to get 170+ yards rushing and a couple of 25+ yard touchdowns.

The Stains defense isn't nearly that good, and I'm looking forward to a repeat of the 41-10 beatdown we gave them last year

I think PFF grades aren't the end-all to prove an argument or whatever, but they at least they try to quantify people's performance.

That being said, I thought our offensive line had a pretty damn good game against a stout defensive line -- one of the best we'll see all season.

3 touchdowns (would have been 4 if not for the drop that turned into a pick), 271 total yards, and numerous first down scrambles (he was also our leading rusher) against one of the better defenses in the league.

I don't honestly know what game some of you guys are watching. Without Newton, we would not have won. It's that simple.

What does any of that have to do with what I said? Just because you throw a touchdown  pass you can't be considered inconsistent and moved poorly in the pocket? Strange our receivers don't  get the same treatment for drops when they catch a touchdown, people will still harp on the drops.

I agree with this 100%.  The most important stat is the W folks. TheRed is right, can Cam be more consistent?  Sure, but dang it's depressing getting on here sometimes....

You want to talk about our WR's eh? Our current #1 WR has 95 yards, that puts him right at 67th in the NFL. Behind 6 running backs.

Now tell me more about how our franchise quarterback is inconsistent.
